I got an email from my first choice college today, saying that they're missing one of my teacher recommendation. But I specfically remember talking to both of my teachers, and they both said they have mailed it in a long time ago (end of October).

Unfortunately the deadline has already passed, so it'd be useless to make my teacher's resend it.

if they emailed you, it means they stil want your rec. get your teacher to re-do it ASAP (today) and re-sent it. argue on who's right and who screwed up later. get the letter in first.

It is fine to send it late. Just make sure it gets faxed ASAP, with your name and social security number on it. You are still in the running, don't worry.

there are exceptions to the deadline if there are extenuating circumstances (people in south florida got a few extra weeks on the ED (november 1st) deadline because of hurricane Wilma) or if it is something beyond your control (rec's getting lost in mail, teachers not sending them, lost in filing etc.)

don't worry about a thing, because every little thing is gonna be alright

If anything, it will be held against your teacher, not you. Also, you might want to phone the admissions office before talking to your teacher. Even if the deadline was Nov 1 and not the 15, they still might be processing all of the paperwork.

yea, your title's a little extreme...it's a bit early in your life to predict if it's ruined or not...especially considering what you think a ruined life is... I don't even want to know what you believe when you get dumped or anything of that nature...I just hope you don't have heart attacks over them. From what i've heard, colleges don't hold you accountable for problems with your teachers and guidance

If you've sent in the main part of your application, app fee, etc, it won't be invalidated if a piece of it appears to be missing and you have to resend just that piece past the deadline. Colleges are quite flexible about this kind of stuff (I sent my FAFSA late to several colleges and it was fine) and especially if they are notifying you about this at this time it means they just want you to send it in so they can finish evaluating your app. If you are really worried about it you should call the college, but I think that what I just said is what they are going to tell you.

No your life is not ruined. It won't be the first time a teacher forgot to send rec and adcom knows that. In fact they are probably more interested in you or else why bother.
