My odds with a GED?

I'm a Kansas resident who was in high school for a while, but opted to get my GED due to some health problems I was having. I got a 3050 on my GED, with scores in the 600s in everything but math, where I got a 500. 3050 is on the higher end of the average scale, and the max is 4000. Still, I did pretty good.

I got a 24 on my ACT, and I needed a 21 to meet requirements. I sent in my application today, and my transcripts should be on their way, too.

So I'm mostly asking this to encourage myself until I get the letter. What are my odds of getting in for the 2009 school year? I'd be a freshman.

If I had completed high school, I know it would have been easier. But, like I said, I couldn't because of health reasons, so I went for the second best option.

I think you will be just fine. As long as you meet the requirements, admission is pretty automatic. Your ACT of 24 more than meets the requirements. Congratulations on continuing to pursue your education despite the obstacles in your way. My S is a freshman at KU and loves it. Good luck, let us know how it turns out.

Thanks. =] I've been really worried about it.

I think you'll be just fine too. You should be proud of yourself for continuing your education. My daughter is a junior at K-State and loves it there. In my opinion, both KU and K-State are underrated and don't get as much attention as they deserve. Best of luck to you.

Thank you, and I agree. Both Universities don't get the credit they deserve. =]

I agree with gbesq that Kansas has some great schools that get overlooked because, well.....they're in Kansas. I'm so glad S was open-minded to location and able to see KU for the gem it is. We have been very happy with all aspects of S's life at KU and have really enjoyed visiting him there.

Yeah. I live in Kansas City, which is not too far away, and I love Lawrence. It's like a giant Westport, which is my favorite part of Kansas City. Plus it's far enough away from home that my parents won't be showing up all the time (something my mom WOULD do), but close enough that I can visit home whenever. Everybody I know that has gone/is going there really likes it, which is also a plus because I'll know people going in.

I'm feeling a lot less stressed about it now. I've been talking to an admissions councilor, who says I'll be just fine, and everybody else has said the same thing. =]

Just thought I'd say I got in. I'll be going there this fall!

I'm so glad for you. Thanks for letting us know.

Haha, welcome? I'm just so excited. This is big for me. I'm a first generation on my dad's side to go to college. My mom went to college, but... my dad really wanted me to be more like my mom, and I was on the verge of not even graduating. So I've turned things around.

I have been accepted there as well, any advice??
