My Progress Thread for January SAT

<p>Ohh, okay, I thought you were on school haha. But that still is a large amount even with that much free time! Good luck! I hope you and I can stay ultra-motivated in the coming weeks!</p>

<p>@peachmarmalde Yep mate, I really don’t want to waste time to sit for it again as I am an international student so it’s really hard to find time as school ends so late </p>

<p>All the best to you too mate :)</p>

<p>20-30 practice tests? Oh my gosh??? I think I would cry if that was my goal—I can barely complete one section of a practice test without taking a break! :stuck_out_tongue: I don’t know how you have an attention span that could sit through all that torture, but I applaud you if you survive that many! ;)</p>

<p>I have only take one practice since school started. Not making much progress.</p>

<p>@cassidys Haha trust me I am very tempted to take a break as well and I probably would if I stayed at home </p>

<p>It’s a good idea to go out of the house to a public library or something where there are less distractions and you don’t really want to keep getting up and walking around looking like a idiot</p>

<p>do you thonk guys the jan. international test will be recycled or not ?</p>

<p>No idea. :O</p>

<p>So, I’ve taken the official SAT a number of times now and I always run out of time (except on the writing sections). I don’t know why that is, but I can probably attribute it to stress. I’ve never actually done a practice test prior to any of these SATs, which is probably why I’m taking it again! Well, I’ve completed the CR and M sections on two of the Blue Book tests and I’ve finished each one of them with a little less than 5 minutes to spare. I found that odd, considering I’m still getting the same amount of questions incorrect. :frowning: Then when I look over the answers and the explanations I feel like a complete idiot for making “stupid” errors. Ahhh! Hopefully it all will “click” soon, as it did for many users taking practice tests… <em>fingers crossed</em></p>

<p>Good luck cassidys, do you check your answers with the spare time?</p>

<p>No, because I don’t know which to check over. Hahaha not enough time to review all of them ;(</p>

<p>Maybe try going a little slower then? I don’t know how to help much in this situation unfortunately :/</p>

<p>Guys I need a little advice and help please :)))
So, I am registered to do the SAT on Jan 25th in about 2 weeks time. I just did a practice paper today and got a score of about 1950. (This was my first time doing an SAT paper through, I am international student so this is something I have to do in my own time/ not at school) I would ideally like a score of 2200 upwards and was wondering whether such an increase would be possible to achieve in 2 weeks? I don’t know whether I should just keep at it (considering I’m still getting school work) or reschedule for May/June or even Sept to do the test (there is no March international test day). The reason I chose Jan for the test is because May/June is when the national exams are (and when I will most likely do the subject tests) and I thought Sept might be too late for early app.</p>

<p>What should I do?</p>

<p>Hmm, if you really study extensively in these next two weeks and scrutinize every question you get wrong, it might be possible, but the chances are slim.
Realistically, you could probably score around 2000-2100 if you really study, but then again anything is possible.
It just depends on your own level of confidence at this point in time.</p>

<p>After a long period of not test taking, I have finally taken another full practice test.
Unfortunately, my results were not as good as last time, but not that terrible either.
On this particular test, the math questions were a little puzzling, and the reading was pretty challenging. However, the writing was a breeze.
I got a 700 on Math, which was 60 lower than my previous two scores.
For Critical Reading, I scored a 670 which was abysmal compared to my 720 and 780.
Finally for Writing, I got a 780 MC only score, because I missed only 1 question!
With a 10-12 Essay, Writing would be at a 790-800.
So my total score came out as 2150-2170.
Not too shabby, but definite improvements are needed.
Hopefully with more practice in the next few days, I will get back into the groove of full tests, and score higher.

<p>Took another test, this time out of the old Blue Book.
My results were pretty similar again.
710 CR, 700 Math, and 740 Writing
For a total score of 2150.
Many of the hard math questions are stumping me, and this time the writing was much more difficult. CR, on the other hand, was a little bit easier.
It’s looking like my score will most likely fall into the 2100-2200 category.
Maybe with a stroke of luck on test day I will be able to exceed these practice scores? :stuck_out_tongue:
Will take another test tomorrow!
-Peach</p>

<p>Hey Peach, I scored 740 on CR after your advice
It was the 7th test CB where my subscores were 800 W 770 M 740 CR
It was a 2310 :open_mouth: :open_mouth:
But Im still not confident :frowning:
My aim is just 2200 but Im feeling that I will run out of time or feel stressed out on that day, :frowning: What should I do? :frowning:
And dont you think the CB test curves fr 1st 3 are very lenient for CR? 64 to 67 all 800s? :O</p>

<p>People who have already taken the SAT,
Did you feel that the CB tests were easier than the real SAT or did you score more on your test day than practice tests? anyone there to give some confidence? :P</p>

<p>Great job JAN!
If you are feeling stressed, I know on test day that I am just going to try and take it one section at a time (obviously), but what I mean is that I will focus as hard as I can on each section while disregarding the rest of the test.
I know in some practice tests, my thoughts wander and I start pondering about my scores and about those questions which I was unsure of, so I am going to attempt to block all of those distracting thoughts out.
Also, the Blue Book tests don’t have a definite curve right, aren’t they in ranges? (750-800, etc.)
CR curves are usually 1 or 2 wrong is an 800, and then 3 or 4 is around a 790-770.</p>

<p>@JANSAT2400
I’ve taken the SAT 4 times already (I know, what a fail) but for all 4 of those I didn’t study at all! For this upcoming test (which will be my last) I’ve decided to actually prep for it. I took 3 full Math and 3 full Reading tests out of the Blue Book. I scored 30 points higher on one of the Math tests, but for the remaining 5 tests (Reading + Math) I scored lower than what I actually get on the SAT? I have no idea why that is. But, in my opinion I think the official SAT taken on Saturdays are easier than the ones in the BB, at least for me!</p>

<p>That’s encouraging to hear cassidys! :D</p>
