Asinine optimism, then. I don't know where you got that he was in state and I wouldn't consider UCLA, UCSD, UCD, UCSB, UCSC, UCI easy schools. Maybe you were talking about Riverside? Well, people get rejected from there too. I get what you're saying that if he tries now he still has a chance but that wasn't what you said before. He asked for opinions and I said community college is an option, certainly not unreasonable considering his stats. No need to set him up for dissapointment about the ivies. That is, if this post ISN'T A JOKE.

I'll admit my first post came off a bit overly optimistic, I guess it may have been a little bit of guilt. I meant the UCs and other top tier state schools are certainly still in the picture. If he were to try they would be pretty easy to get into.

As far as I know, the UCs have been safety schools for the majority of my friends, and most who applied got accepted, many were from out of state actually. Good state universities are easy to get into if you're in state, they accept most of the applicants as long as they meet certain requirements. I don't consider them to be easy entry for "F" students, but they really are not that hard to get into.

Alright I hear ya.

keep the posts coming. i'm lovin it.

Maybe me give an sat or gpa to work with here.

i can't, i'm too ashamed, promise you won't laugh yer head off and i might consider it.

go for it. Its a forum.

(sheepishly)ok, but post your numbers first, i don't want to post mine if yours are like almost perfect ya know.

all righty then, since no one's responding. here goes(takes and deep breath and recoils in horror watching the atrocious numbers appear on the screen)
sat: 950 m470 v480
gpa: 49.92 it rounded to a passing mark on my report card of course, but in actuality i failed! my highest mark was math, 75%.
maybe someone can post stats lower than mine to rekindle some of my lost human spirit? anyone? hello? echoes....

ur sat's not so bad that u weren't willing to post it
i'll give u an advice. start on frm today. work hard for a good gpa in ur end of term exams and then takea gap year. improve on ur sats, E.cs and voila u may even be able to apply to an ivy. i'm serious.

what?????????????????? thanks for the advice, but seriously, my iq is like 8....2, or somin. Do you really think think I can improve my stats. I mean not only am i dumb, but i'm lazy as hell as well. I think of myself whose purpose is to simply exist feebly in this poor, polluted world.(maybe evolution ain't such a great phenomenon after all? The world used to be so pretty.) LOL, hahaha, i don't know *** i just said.
That said, thanks for your advice. I'll heed it and take it to heart.

......looks like i didn't construct that paragraph very well. made a few spelling errors, and one of my sentences is chopped up.(That's what i get for not proofreading) Oh well, ignore my stupidity, and please just rate my chances. And be harsh if ya want. I can take it.

just get your mom to check over your work my mom is forcing me to do that, cuase i hate hw, but its workin. ive turned in every assignment in on time since she did that, cuse shes a scary person when it comes to school. just make her keep on doing that. it works im telling ya...........really it does. :)

you're one lucky dude. but it looks like we have something in common. I HATE homework too. btw, people, real sat: 1510 gpa: hishonor roll low(not joking)

You'd be surprised how much a little hard work will get you.

are you speaking from experience FIshS?

Well, those stats were just a tad bit lower than I expected :-p. But I'm sure you could get some where if you put in a bit of effort. I don't know about your intelligence level, but American education as a whole is pretty darn cheesed out... I was in China for awhile and my cousin who was a middle schooler was doing 12 hrs of school AND several hours of homework after that. Now, to excel in an environment like that you have to be truly a genius, but something like this? Nah.

If you're just simply unwilling to do the work, then I guess you should consider the cc route. I've got some friends who put in a marginal amount of effort into school and get into top tier colleges, but if you aren't blessed with the natural gift, you'll have to work for it.

And btw, cut the Halo, sitcoms, tv, those'll only rot your brain :(.

LOL, what sort of top tier schools. You see, the thing is i get 0%s or at most 5% on homework checks, and they count for 50% of my final mark. so you see my problem.
btw, halo is my passion, doesn't harvard want you to committ yourself to yer passion? LOL

if you are serious, go to community college or drop out.

BUT! you can be a video game reviewer or run an E-zine instead, with all of the free time you have from not going to school.

okay, i'm done with this. it's been amusing, but the truth is guys, this thread is a joke. Initially, i posted it cause i couldn't sleep thinking no one would respond, but sice this has not been the case, i'll confess: this thread is a joke/prank, whatever you want to call it.
