@lldm21: I’ve always been rather reclusive in my playing style, so friends leaving has never been a big problem Anyways, I’ve added you; my username is different from my CC username, so I also sent a PM to confirm my identity ^^

On topic:

I’ve been exercising pretty consistently for the past several days or so, and I’m hoping to keep it up; commitment has always been an issue.

You can do it! I’ve been exercising fairly frequently too but every few weeks I just lapse out my exercise regimen … I get lazy.

I’m going to start a calorie deficit as dfree suggested and exercise everyday. That’s right. I’m putting it in writing now! Now I’m going to have to stay true! No more late-night cookies. No more small snacks throughout the day now either. And smaller meals. And more water to combat hunger. Let’s go!!

@IceQube: Go for it, man! I’ve tried writing everything down in past attempts to maintain an exercise routine and healthy lifestyle, but I’ve never actually managed to keep it up for long periods of time. I should probably start again; tracking and noticing changes over the weeks should be enough to motivate me for a while, hahaha.

Dangg at all those academic goals. It makes me feel terrible since I haven’t even touched a book since finishing up the school year about a month ago.

@ jonn: Lol, I feel the same way. Time to hit the books again before I go on vacation.

Brb going to McDonald’s - trying to bulk right now and what better way than to eat some McDouble’s? Tried these around a month ago, and they’re the only thing on the menu that tastes half edible.

Also need to research some colleges… I know absolutely nothing in depth about ANY colleges right now; funny considering I’m on CC.

Is it just me, but I find any kind of fast food appealing? I rarely - and I mean rarely - go to fast food restaurants; I think I’ve been to them about a dozen times over my life, but if I’m there, I’ll eat just about anything on the menu.

I just can’t see myself contemplating the difference among a McRib, McDouble, Fish Burger, Cheese Burger, or Egg Sandwich … they’re all about equally appealing to me (delicious, but I fortunately have the self-restraint to not eat them on a regular basis).

I don’t know anything about colleges either lol!!! The only things I know a lot about in are SATs … I guess I should start checking out the college sub-forums.

Academic / Research:
-Finish bacteria innoculation preparation hopefully in time for the pCDNA3/HLA-A2 transformation tomorrow
-Perform an ELISA Assay Friday and analyze results in time for transduction on Monday
-I’d like to finish my hepatic carcinoma titration hopefully by 3 o’clock today, and try to get the right concentration of G418 antibiotic for the transduction tomorrow
-I’ll probably finished my plasmid purification of pRetrQ-mCherry vector [pretransformed]sometime next week and I’d like to yield 52-67% sustainability on the flow cytometer.

And if you’re trying to bulk, McDonalds is a terrible idea. If you want to gain weight, go for (16-18[your bodyweight in pounds]) calories per day, every day, for many, many weeks, and months (i.e. say you’re 150lbs, you eat 16-18150, so 2400-2700 kcal per day). You want to gain about 4lbs per month. More and you’re just getting extra fat, less and you’re not building muscle fast enough; so adjust calories accordingly, upwards to ensure growth, or downwards to prevent excessive fat gains.

Yes, you’re gonna build some fat; that’s the way things are. Yes, you will probably have to eat way more than you are comfortable with. Deal with it.

Today was extremely successful. I successfully avoided any snacking today and I ate relatively little. I hit the road and the gym and sculpted my abs some. I also got a lot of work done :D. Now, it’s off to the sack while listening to MCAT Audio Osmosis CDs. SAT II Bio 800 ftw!

This is a nice thread. If nobody minds, I’d like to post my summer goals. I’m a rising Junior ('14). They may be a bit too ambitious, so I’ll tone them down if I find them to be near impossible. If not, I’ll just work myself to death.

Academic Goals:[ul]
[] Score an ever-elusive 2400 on an SAT Practice Test. My best so far (out of the Blue Book) has been a 2380, missing three questions on the critical reading section. One less question missed and the curve would have kept me at 2400.
[] Work my way through 25 NLEs. I desperately want a gold medal on the NLE VI by the time I apply to college, so I’m going to have to work like crazy. I have only taken Latin for two years, so I’m a step behind everybody who has taken Latin for five years since middle school. This may not be possible, but I’ll try.
[] Work my way through every AMC ever made. I want to make USAMO this year (missed qualification by 6 points. My index: 198.5. Qualifying index: 204.5) so I’m looking to get 23+ questions right on the AMC instead of the measly 18 I got last year. In the same vein…
[] Score 10+ on an AIME. Same idea: take a ton of practice tests.
[] Start my coursework. Since I’m homeschooled I really don’t need to wait until the summer ends to start my courses, so I might as well. My technical course are going to be a breeze (Calc BC, Physics C) I’m just deathly scared of humanities, particularly Vergil. I’ve never read Latin poetry before–just prose–so I’m putting myself in sort of a dangerous situation.
[] Learn ArcGIS. I’m currently in an internship at a USDA lab, so that ought to be interesting.
[] Explore research topics in bioinformatics. I’m looking to submit a project to Siemens my senior year with my bioinformatics professor at the U of F, but, unfortunately, I haven’t even begun my research! I got to get that going or it will be far too late to submit anything by the time we actually have findings.
[] Work through some USAPhO practice tests. I’ve always wanted to compete in the USAPhO, and since it only covers mechanics, (which I’m already through) I should be alright.
[li] Prepare for my SAT IIs. I’m taking: Math II, Physics, Lit, and Latin. Lit will be crazy difficult, but I think I’m up to the challenge. Maybe I should go with USH, though…[/li][/ul]

Personal Goals: [ul]
[] Be able to run one hour at 80-90% of my maximum heart rate. I’ve always been a short-distance runner, so I’d like to work on my distance running.
[] Gain 15 lbs of muscle and maybe a small percent of body fat. If my personal trainer thinks it’s possible, I think so too. Right now I’m 6’2", 162 lbs so that would be 177 lbs. Seems like a lot to me, but like I said, I’m ambitious. I’m benching 155 lbs right now, I’d also like that at 200 lbs.
[li] Volunteer at the local hospital. It makes me feel less self-centered and egotistical (which I may be) to do something like that.
[/li][/ul]

And that’s it. I like reading everybody else’s goals. It’s very motivating.

1/6th mile jog to the gym
0.5 miles @ ~8-9 mph on the treadmill
Weight training (triceps and biceps)
Insanity Plyometric Cardio circuit

Day 2:
1/6th mile jog to gym
1 mile @ ~8 mph on the treadmill
Weight training (triceps and biceps)
Insanity Plyos

Day 3:
1/6 mile jog to gym
1 mile @ ~8
Weight training (triceps and biceps)
Insanity Pure Cardio

Everytime I finish an Insanity session, it’s like I just came back from a dip. Shorts, socks, shoes - soaked. I can wring a ton of sweat from the freaking string on my shorts right now. But gawd I <3 it. The trainer is so motivating and seeing all those people workout motivates me even more. I’m going to do this EVERY DAY for the REST OF MY LIFE.
