Maybe if I post it here it will happen.
PSAT studying and Tuba practicing.
(this was supposed to happen yesterday too but I instead cleaned my room and made post-it note goals)

–Get all-state in the Clarinet (not really in the summer, but most of my practicing will be then)
–Do AP Spanish work
–Start college essays
–Either start running/weightlifting (Not gonna lie, it’s probably not gonna happen at this point…)
–Beat Skyward Sword/Majora’s Mask
–Finish watching all of the seasons of America’s Next Top model

Yes, this is what my life has come to.

Get fit enough to be able to run a few miles at a time (so I wont look like an idiot at tennis workouts)

Read as many classics and non-fictions as I can (or books that are in general, difficult to read). I need to enlarge my vocabulary and my general understandings of literature (I missed SO many critical reading questions on the SATs… Of the ones I did I got a ton of them wrong, and that’s with skipping around 10).

Pass Pre-calculus with an A (the only reason I wont will be due to silly errors, and not enough time dedicated on my part, the class is pretty easy by itself)

Study for the SATs, I really want a 2300+ in the end, but I’d be happy with anything above a 2000+ on my next go around (I took it this year as a freshman and got a 1820, I’m planning on taking it one or two more times junior year)

Prepare for AP Physics and AP Calc (and AP Psych, but only a little)

Get my mile time down to 8 minutes, and start training for swim team and track in the winter and fall possibly.

get a better idea about what I have to do to get into the colleges I want

study up for french III in the fall.

Downloaded Chemistry 7th edition by Zumdahl, and I’m starting to take notes. Speeding through the first half of the book, because it’s already stuff we did in Honors Chemistry. Still takes a while though, as writing the process explaining how to balance Redox reactions is quite extensive. Up to Gases, which is Chapter 5, and rather easy, so I plan to finish that today and go onto Thermochemistry. If I end up pulling of self-studying AP Chem I’ll be damn happy.
Also, I start tutoring people for SATs on Tuesday. And by people, I mean one person. It’s good money though, $15 an hour, so for only 3 hours a week I make $45… which is more than I need really. And then I start tutoring someone else in August for $10 an hour (she lives closer)… looking at potentially $60 a week. Sweet deal.

Well, I figure I’ll post an update. I just got back from camp and got my AP scores. I got a 4 on APUSH, 5 on Calc AB, 5 on Eng, and 4 on Physics B. Not too happy with the 4 on APUSH but at least I got an 800 on the SAT II. As for Physics B I’m going to start studying for the SAT II today (it’s in October) and get an 800 so hopefully that will offset that 4 a bit. I am 75% of the way through AP Comp Sci so I hope to finish that in a week or so and then focus on other things, namely drawing and painting and starting AP Art History.

My summer goals were to volunteer throughout the whole summer for at least 15 hours a week, learn tuba, master my all-state music, know all of the background information I need for the 11 AP exams I’m taking this year, lose 20 pounds, and become more organized.

How much did I accomplish?
None. In fact, I lost like 5 pounds of muscle and gained 10 pounds of fat to replace it lolololol.

Update on my goals:
I’ve gotten all A’s on the tests and quizzes at precalc classes but my midterm grade was a 79 so studying harder for next units
I’m squatting 35 lb now, and bench pressing only like 10 pounds.
Also weight loss has faultered ever since parents bought a ton of junk food all of a sudden >_>
However I have kept up a somewhat regular running schedule
I will work on painting more after precalc classes end

@gomdorri Haha that’s what happens when you give yourself way too many goals. My goals for the summer were to play tennis almost every day, go to the gym a lot, study for the SAT, review Spanish, review Algebra 2, prepare for Pre Calc and prepare for my 3 APs.

I haven’t come close to accomplishing everything, but I have been playing tennis everyday and going to the gym 3-4 times a week and I just started making SAT Vocab flashcards which will help me with Critical Reading and AP English. I’m going to start seriously reviewing Algebra 2/studying for SAT Math soon… and hopefully I can still expose myself to some Pre Calc. I go back in 2 and a half weeks. :/

@FollowtheReaper
Actually, that’s what happens to me 24/7. xD At first, I did manage to lose 10 pounds in around 2 weeks, but my parents started bringing home dinner at like 11 PM and so I’d end up sleeping late, waking up late, missing breakfast, going to work, missing lunch, and then eating a full box of pizza at midnight. -____-
So all of my hard work gone there.
And I need the computer to study, but whenever I come on to use the comp I end up going on TheO instead. xD

Academic:
- Successfully teach myself precalc so that I can take BC Calc next year.
- Notify administration of my bunk schedule for next year and ask them to change it once I get into BC Calc
- Finish summer reading - Survival of the Sickest, Fahrenheit 451, To Kill a Mockingbird (I don’t know why they’re having us read this when they know for a fact that most of the school has read it in middle school), and other summer assignments.
- Buy AP Prep books (Euro, World, Bio, Calc, Stats) and start learning! (might get Psych, ES, and HUGS later in the year)
- Buy SAT 2 Math 2 prep book(s) and start reviewing for December (?) test
- Sign up for statistics at local CC

Personal:
- Exercise (run, P90X, whatever else) ~1hr/day
- lose 5-10 lbs
- Call DMV to schedule appt for permit test, then study for permit test
- Spend less time on CC :P

Okay, I’ve posted on here before, but this is just another update.

Practically finished with honors Pre-Cal online!!! (1 week of actual material left before the exam), currently have high 93% (so its rounded up to 94%). Super stoked for it to be over and for AP Calc to begin.

Just picked up running, and just about to go on a run right now (its too hot during the day and I really dont wake up early enough to run in the morning. So, night running it is). Last run was just about 2miles. This coming from someone who has probably never completely run a single mile.

I just started my summer reading (love in the time of cholera) and Im 10 pages in, hopefully I can get through it pretty quickly (as in, maybe two weeks.)

Oh and hey guys! Im getting kind of nervous about AP calc and Physics (along with Ap Psych) in the fall… I was confident I could do it before, but as I get closer to when it starts I just keep getting nervous. I made straight a’s last year without too much effort, with 5 honors classes 1 ap class and 2 electives(french II and gym) . I think when it comes down to it i’ll be fine, but I cant help but be nervous! any books that you mightve used to selfstudy, something I can use to prepare for the classes in the fall? Any comments on how hard the classes were? Math is my best subject, and Science was my second best last year. 100% in geometry (was SO easy) 92-4% or something in algebra II (i ended the year with like 16 zeros. in the end it was just me not doing the work that hurt my grade), pre-cal (havent finished yet) something around 94-96% probably. I heard physics is only hard because of the math involved, and so I opted to take that instead of chemistry (I was willing to take honors physics, but we had to fight for physics in general, and i wasnt there to say i was alright with honors instead of AP). Any advice here guys?

PR and Peterson’s are useful for Calc. Don’t psych yourself out about physics. It isn’t necessarily difficult if you have a good attitude and are willing to invest some time to understand rather than memorize formulas.

Here’s my update regarding my summer goals (copied and pasted from the first post and updated with comments)

1) Three online courses (Marine Sci., Earth Space Sci., and Physical Sci.) – done
2) Self-study BC → be able to ace Calc BC tests by end of summer way behind
3) Self-study Stat → be able to ace AP Stat tests by end of summer barely touched Stat
4) SAT II Bio, Math II → double 800s in October Only studied Bio; barely touched Math II
5) Bio project → the grade distribution in the last one was clustered in the D-F range; about 2 people got Bs or As. Still in the planning stage
6) Summer reading for Contemp. USH → know WWI inside out Haven’t started
7) Summer reading for Lit (Heart of Darkness) → know book inside out Haven’t started
8) Self-study Lit → be able to coherently write Lit essays by end of summer Haven’t started
9) Volunteer hours → need 150 hours total Haven’t started
10) Draft college essays Haven’t started
11) Thoroughly read all the required reading for Lit throughout the year before hand Haven’t started
12) Complete all Calc BC homework this summer → already have homework problem list for BC teacher Barely started
13) Complete all Stat homework this summer → must obtain AP Stat homework problem list … Haven’t started
14) Complete major Lit essay this summer → no clue about how to even start Haven’t started
15) Complete all math projects this summer → yes, we have major projects in BC Haven’t started
16) Grant applications for club I’m in → omg … Done

Personal:

1) Driver’s License (I don’t even have a permit) -> must read drivers handbook, and pass test Haven’t started
2) Workout -> jog; get ripped (currently 5’11, 175 pounds, average build). I currently jog about 1/3rd a mile every night and workout a little bit. Good progress - Insanity cardio routine + regular gym workout = major gain in muscle mass (I can see my biceps now :D)

Iceqube, how long did it take you to complete the flvs course. I have about 2-3 weeks to do AP Calculus AB, is it possible. Should I even bother?

@sjsharks: it took me a month. However, you cannot finish Calc AB in 2-3 weeks - you are required to spend 2 weeks in each part of the course, and there are two parts (segments in FLVS parlance) to Calc AB, so you’ll need at least 4 weeks to complete the course.

1) Get my license
2) Finish my new programming book
3) Get my recommendation questionnaires done by August (really should have done these ages ago)
4) Learn the calc at least needed for Physics C. Try to study some extra calc too
5) Finish summer reading books by mid August, and finish notes my September
6) Finish story outline by August

I might add more later…

Academic: I have three books to read for English and have about 6 assignments for APUSH. I read and did the work for one of the books. I have 0 APUSH assignments done -_________-

Personal: I’m trying to get in shape for cross country and enjoy the free time with my friends while I still can.

EC’s: I’m an editor for my school’s newspaper and I’m working on the introductory e-mail to incoming freshman. I’m also doing various service projects this summer.

IceQube, you should take progress pictures for your workout.

Been working out for 3 months now, and you can see my abs :)

Also, my arms are getting pretty big. Lift hard/stay strong

Here’s to being productive tomorrow – I’ll let you know how it goes.

All right, last stretch of summer for me, so checking in:

1) Everything’s been going great lately.
2) Got my first job. Already earned $120. Not bad.
3) Been working out like crazy. Dips, pushups, squats, jogging, lifting, pressing, you name it. I can do 45 pushups in one go, and over 100 with a few breaks.
4) Almost got my learner’s permit … almost! Just gotta go to the DMV now :D!
5) Been slaughtering Bio.

I took the 2008 released AP Bio exam, and I got an 80% on it. That’s right. 80/100 on the M/C. Not bad for someone who hasn’t even finished a course in AP Bio.

6) Been working on Bio project … I’ll be wrapping that up shortly.
7) Been hitting on girls at the bookstore. That’s right. Short-term relationships ftw.
8) Been working on the book I’m going to publish … I’ve already finished a significant portion of the book ;).

On the downside:

1) Still haven’t touched Calc BC
2) Still haven’t touched Stat
3) Still haven’t started college essays
4) Still haven’t made much headway with Math II

Currently: Chilling, reminiscing, and smiling, all while listening to Right Above It and Popular (got the two songs on replay). The songs exemplify how I feel right now :).

Currently: also working on my next HS Life essay :D.
