I could ask my sister- she went a couple of years ago.

FuzzySlippers thats great to hear, i remember a while back you were a little down about not making it to West Point SLS. Congratulations on making it to NASS

"I was wondering what exactly we do at NASS....events, activities, etc?"

Every morning you get up for some "light" exercise. Their definition of light was a bit more than mine, but it was mostly not too hard. There are some things that you could do to make them be harder, but it would ruin the surprise if I told that story.

After exercise you get to shower and then go to breakfast. You then go to classes, most of which are great fun (possibly all, but I was pretty tired at the end of the week and don't really remember much of those ones.)

After classes there are special events like a trip to Arlington and the Sunset Parade at the Iwo Jima monument. You also do a sort of mini Sea Trials one day which was for me the most fun part. All I'll tell you about that is that you should be in good or at least ok shape.

Make sure you go with an open mind. Don't be dead set on schedules, don't worry if the midshipmen seem a bit mean or odd and you should really enjoy it.

My kiddo wrote a detailed story about her 05 NASS experiences - at both USNA and USAFA which she attended back to back. Anyone who wants a copy can email me at nofoolingme2003@yahoo.com and I'll let them read a copy. I did this last year for some from that group and they seemed to think it helped - so let me know.

does anyone know the order inwhich they send out the letters of acceptence into NASS? Do they send 1st session first,2nd session 2nd etc.? and also do they send out the people who have been accepted first followed by the people who have not? or do they just send the letters in no real order?

Thank you Peskemom. My D is doing the exact same thing--NASS and USAFA SLS back-to-back. She can't wait to read your D's story. Thank you for sharing.

I requested session 3 (I applied in early February) and received my letter on 19 March.

Hmm... they started sending letters out...

I wonder if it's too late to call and tell them that now I'm actually in NHS, considering when I filled out the application, the NHS applications weren't even handed out. And I think class rank FINALLY got updated for this year. When I checked in February, they didn't have it updated. Hmm...

Time to frequently check the mail!

I have the same problem with NHS, but it is probably too late by now.

You might email the info or call them. Never too late. My son applied Feb 1st ... Heard April 15th ... appointment mid-Dec.

I got my acceptance letter today. Session 1, but I am calling tommorow to see if I can switch to Session 3. Glad step one was successful.
Congrats to anyone else who is in so far.

Our daughter just got her acceptance letter today! She was accepted into Session 1. She is looking forward to seeing USNA first hand having watched her older brother go through NASS, then the appointment process, and this past year as a plebe.

For her brother, it was one of the highlights of his young life and crystallized his commitment to become a midshipman.

I got my acceptance letter today, Session 3! After that, I'll be going to the Navy Crew Camp. I'm going to be one tired dude after all this...

i was accepted into session 2 but sadly i dont think i can go. :(

Quick question. Where do we send the hometown news release? To the naval academy or to the newspaper office? Thanks

^^^^^
The Hometwon Press Release goes to the Naval Academy. The public affairs crew will take it from there.

gotcha! Thanks!

if we are turning down our acceptance do we still send the home town news release, etc?

I have not yet received my letter. Does this mean i was not accepted. Will I receive a letter either way? Is everyone who received their letter session 1?

USNA_son, I'm actually Session 3. I don't think they sent the mailing out in any particular order. I live in Chicago, and I got my letter yesterday, so if you live west of the mid-west, that would probably be why.
