Is it ok for me to put National AP Scholar on my college applications if I'm not going to be named one until the end of the year? I'm a senior, and have gotten 5s on all the APs I've taken (8 total), so I'm pretty sure I'll get it...

You do not know for sure that you will be a National AP Scholar, so I do not think it is appropriate for you to say that you are. Your AP record will be clear if you send a formal report or if you self-report your scores on the application. (You should report the scores anyway, since the National designation does not require 5s on all exams, and that is what you have.)

You do know for sure, because the award criteria are very specific. If you meet the criteria, you will get it.

Right now, you can certainly put down something like, "National AP Scholar (pending)" or "Qualified for National AP Scholar (awaiting certificate). By the way, the award certificates are sent out in October so you may already have it in hand for all but EA or ED submittal dates.

When I wrote the earlier response, I thought National status required 9 exams. The notice of status will arrive in the mail in time for applications, so yes, it is legitimate to claim it.

Thanks!!!!
