I am National Hispanic Scholar, based on PSAT scores, and was searching for schools that give good scholarships for this. My searches have not gone well and was wondering if anyone knows of any of these colleges.
Thanks in advance,
airbear87123

Airbear,
Check out: U of Arizona (and possibley Arizona State U), U of Iowa, The College of New Jersey and U of Rochester.
I found these by searches of the merit scholarships of individual schools, I don't think there's an easy way to find all schools that give scholarships to NHRP students, as it depends on how much the school wants to recruit Hispanics. Have you become a Venture Scholar yet? If you're interested in science and math that's another good way to get your name out to colleges. Good luck!

Thanks so much, I will definitely check those schools out. I live in New Mexico so U of A, looks attractive. One other thing, what's a Venture Scholar?

airbear, here's their website and some info, check it out:

Thank you so much for your time, this Venture Scholar program looks very interesting and I will look into it further. Thanks again.

airbear,
Other schools that have good merit for URM's that you might want to check out are:
Northeastern
Kenyon
Case Western Reserve
Denison
Also, if you qualify for financial aid, look at LAC's in areas that have difficulty attracting URM's (eg. rural, midwest)

add Boston University to the list of colleges with good merit aid to NHRP (half tuition)

If you're interested in small LAC's, Willamette in Salem, Oregon has a 15k scholarship for NHRP.

U Richmond gives half-tuition (plus waive the application fee, so might as well) for National Hispanic.

garrr- is that for sure about URichmond? Where did you see/hear it? I looked on the website but only see that they offer $750-$2000 for a National Hispanic Scholar.

Thanks even more for all the replies. Are there any colleges around the Southwest (AZ, NM, TX) that are worth looking into? I like the location better.
Thanks in advance, airbear87123

well, I was National Hispanic last year, and they sent me a letter saying that because of that, my application would be free, and if i was accepted I would get a half-tuition scholarship equal to around $17,000. I applied, got in, and got that exact scholarship.

UT-Austin gives in-state tuition for NHRP. U of Colorado has several merit scholarships for URM's, but you'll have to check on the amounts.

Both Texas schools have programs for National Hispanic Scholars. They do not define, rather flag for merit scholar type awards. Check their websites.

garrr, I PM'd you
