National Youth Leadership Forum on Technology - worth anything on app?

Today I got a big official-looking letter in the mail today from the National Youth Leadership Forum for Technology.

“In honor of your exemplary academic record, leadership potential and commitment to a future in the computer and information technology field, it is my pleasure to inform you that you have been nominated as a Delegate representing New Jersey at the National Youth Leadership Forum on Technology to be held in Silicon Valley, California from June 27 - July 6, 2005.”

And so on…

I checked the past participating institutions list, and there are some pretty big names. AMD, Apple, Cisco, Dell, EA, IBM, Intel, Lockheed Martin, Motorola, NASA, Oracle, Sony, SUn Microsystems, etc.

My question is (Firstly I’m not going to attend due to cost concerns, getting there and so on would be too expensive.), though: Is this nomination worth anything to put on a college app, or is it a throwaway?

I got the same thing as a junior. The program is crap. Look at the schedule of seminars. It's basically a week of advertising.

I wouldn't put down the nomination, no.

Sorry bro.

Put it down if you attend. Otherwise it's probly not worth much.

The only reason it would be useful is if you went and it would be an example of your interest. But if you aren't going to attend, it's not worth it, they aren't exactly selective in offering invitations.
