Native Americans @ Duke.

I am a Native American enrolled in my tribe. I have contacted Duke about this (because something was misrepresented on my CommonApp) and asked if they wanted additional documentation. They said no, but were glad to hear from me (i.e., they didn't seem annoyed).
This is all well and good, but I just feel like checking a box on the CA does not fully explain my heritage. I spoke about it a bit in the "additional information" section, but I feel like they should know more. Duke is probably my top choice with Stanford, however, unlike Stanford, Duke does not have any supplemental essays like Stanford (in which I expanded on my heritage a bit).
So, a current undergrad suggested I write a short explanation of my heritage and send it to Duke. Does this sound just annoying or something that Duke would read and be thankful for because it would explain my background a bit more?

Thanks for the read!

That essay would work, but I would maybe also recommend you get a leader from your community to write a recommendation (the optional rec you can send in) in which s/he explains the tribe/your culture/background a bit? That way you would definitely not be sending in anything Duke Admissions didn't already suggest. However, that essay should be okay too. I doubt they'd give you LESS consideration because of it or anything.

i hope you get in! sounds like ur essay would work well and i am sure ur qualified.
