NC Residents EA

I know that the notification date for Wake Forest EA is on Friday, but I was wondering how they are going to notify us. I can't find anything on their website or anywhere online telling me what to expect. Can anyone enlighten me?

Most likely, it will be through snail mail.

thats what im afraid of…

Yah, they send out decisions the old fashioned way. I am guessing we will here anytime from Saturday to Tuesday-ish. I also find it weird that there is absolutely nothing on the Wake website about the NC EA.

Its a little bizzare. I dont really mind finding out in the mail; I just wish they had told us what to expect.

Yah it really is quite odd. The only reason I knew about the NC EA was through the email they sent out. But I had to email them to confirm that they were sending out decisions on the 15th.

I live in Winston-Salem. I’m hoping to get my letter on Monday. I hate waiting.

Hmmm, up here in the north, Monday is a holiday. It’s called Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday. Perhaps you’ve heard of it? And because of it, there will not be a mail delivery.

jeez. no need to be a jerk

Just get tired of reading posts which show that wannabes are not doing their research…like how many times have people said, “Wake has early action, I didn’t know that”, and then profess their undying love for the school. I know that the adcoms sometimes peruse these pages, wouldn’t it be best to minimize posts that demonstrate a lack of knowledge about the school, or the world?

The problem is that we have all researched the website, but it says next to nothing about EA. And, don’t think I didn’t notice that “up here in the North” comment. Being in the South doesn’t make us a bunch of idiots.

Wake’s EA for NC residents is not widely advertised. I also do not appreciate northern elitism, we aren’t a bunch of ignorant, racist, hicks you know. Actually Maya Angelou is the keynote speaker for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and she is kind of important as far as female African-American writers/poets/people go…

Also, I am very curious, how do questions like this:
“Hi. Is the Wachovia Bank branch still located on campus?”
not reflect people “not doing their research”? A simple google search gave me the answer, and I am just a simple, redneck on a dialup connection…

Asking if a bank branch is still on campus reflects that research is being done, not scrolling through countless threads on this site about EA for NC residents does not. JMHO, didn’t call anyone hicks or rednecks or anything else, that post about Monday mail hit my button. If you are dead serious about wanting to get into a school, you should be reading as much of cc as possible. And of course I know that Maya Angelou, who teaches at the school, will give a keynote address. I read the website.

As my name implies, I am from N.J., which I do not call “in the north,” but part of the United States of America, of which I am very proud to live. This thread is a perfect example of how people are basically the same everywhere. Human nature, for better or worse, will always come out, no matter where you live. How are we demonstrating the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. by being derogatory toward others, expressing frustration by picking on other people? That is what a punching bag is for. We should all try to remember that this is, after all, a forum for students, (that is why there is a separate board for parents, where they can rant and rave about you kids :), I must admit I am a frequent visitor there!), and try to be encouraging and helpful, not condescending.

On a different note, I heard Maya Angelou speak last year, and she remarked that she has been all over, and chose Wake Forest because she felt “at home” there. Her kind and inclusive nature was so beautiful. Please go see her if you can, I wish I could, but I am 600 miles away! Most importantly, let us all honor Dr. King by letting go of prejudices of all kinds.

Just got my acceptance package!!!

Congratulations! I hope you change your handle to demondeacon151, though…

Congratulations! I agree with Demon Deacon, if you are going to Wake, change that name! You are obviously one smart cookie.
;)

Now that you mention it, what is WFU’s EA program? The website only mentions ED. Is EA available to NC residents only?

Correct, Wake’s Early Action program is for North Carolina residents only. The only way I found out about it was through an email I received from the Admissions office. The application deadline for it was November 15th, and they sent out decisions by mail yesterday.

Thanks everybody!
