<p>Reading through the forums, I realized there is no post about this year's NCTE contest. Well, I have decided to be the big man and start [:</p>
<p>Anyways, I was wondering if any past winners or nominees would be willing to share their submitted writing samples. I, as well as many others, would like to see the different levels and styles of writing involved. Any resource would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!</p>
<p>I was a nominee but I don’t have my writing sample. We never got it back. The 2 possible prompts were crazy.</p>
<p>oh, i was hoping people just sent out previously written works that are saved on their computers. well, that’s what i’m doing, atleast.</p>

<p>My teacher asked me to fill out a form, but that’s all I’ve done so far. <em>shrug</em></p>

<p>I’m doing this too. But the postmark deadline is the 20th. Why do you need to submit by next week?</p>
<p>I won last year with a sort of character study about a girl with anorexia, and something else that clearly wasn’t good enough to remember or save. The timed writing thing I definitely remember writing about a gold digger. </p>
<p>Sorry; that’s all the help I can give. My sister took my old laptop to college and I think the writing is there.</p>
<p>For our “best work” can we submit two pieces? Like an essay and a short story, as long as they are under ten pages combined?</p>

<p>We can’t disclose essay topics yet, because the postmark deadline hasn’t arrived, but I’m curious about how much everyone wrote.</p>
<p>I’ve finished the timed writing, and I wrote 2 and a 1/2 pages (single spaced, 12 pt font).</p>
<p>^I believe you can submit a mixture.</p>
<p>Omg what is this?! Why did I not hear about this? (because my school is a crap deposit)</p>
<p>But when is the deadline? Can someone fill me in super-quickly because it seems to be hurtling toward us now? :D</p>

<p>I also can’t find a set of rules for the sample of “best writing.” Is our name/school allowed to appear in the best writing? I don’t think so, but I might be thinking of Scholastic Writing…</p>
