Schools With Rolling Admissions, or likely to Accept past Dedline

So I've decided to move on. I'll still stay on the waitlists, but I need to be open to the possibility that I may not get in. So I was wondering if you guys could help me out. I need a list of schools with rolling admissions or schools that are likely to accept students this year past the deadline. Also note that I'm applying for financial aid, and that means a school with a pretty large endowment would be helpful. Another thing that would be helpful, is a big school. I feel like I would work better in a large environment. I know I am being too specific, especially at a time like this, but anyone that could help, I would greatly appreciate it =]

The financial aid part may have done it for you…

Yea I was kind of thinking that =/

Scared, if not boarding school, what are your options???

I’m somewhat in the same boat.

Info anyone?

Just my public school. Which is actually a very decent school academically, but socially they people(students) are crazy, including the teachers. Many of them are rude, or just lecture to you the whole time. Also, there is barely any school spirit, and all the kids constantly complain about how they hate the town. There are also two private day schools that I could go to, but it wouldn’t be worth it.

Btw pan, I’d just like to thank you for always trying to help people on this board. I read your thread about your son’s acceptances, and congratulations to him and you.

Scaredbutchill and musicallylatin, you both just had the lousy luck of applying during a year when FA was in short supply. But if by some chance things do not work out this year, they will next or when you apply to college.

Berkshire & Governors have rolling admission, plus a bunch of schools with SSAT requirements of 60% or less…such as Kimball Union (lovely facilities, very sports oriented), Cushings, Holderness but FA need at this late date is a definite strike against you. do you have a strong hook that may make them think of dipping a bit deeper?

It seems like the only way I’ll get into boarding school this year is if my family wins the lotto =P But thanks for the advice.

Scaredbutchill, thank you for your comments. I want to reassure you that if by some chance you stay at your current school, THAT FACT DOES NOT EXCLUDE THE POSSIBILITY OF YOUR ATTENDING ANY COLLEGE. Remember that you may be better off really shining at your public than being in a vast sea of talented kids at boarding school. If by some chance you do stay at your public, work really hard, and you will see that three or four years will fly by and that you will be in a good position for an excellent college. In the meantime, try to find a boarding school, but recognize that what matters most is YOU, and not the school

Thank-you very much pan =]

i’d look into cushing, b/c i think they had open spots pretty late into the summer last year

Last year, a poster “sbergman” who works in Admissions at St. Andrews Sewanee said that they still had fa after April 1st. You might ask if the school is of interest. Qualified students can take colleges courses at Sewanee.

Actually, I didn’t get a chance to apply anywhere…period, due to family issues. I haven’t even managed to take the SSAT yet, and there’s no more testing in my area. :(

Good look to musical and scared! (I didn’t get to apply this year either… or yet), but it’s not too late to apply next year!

On the other hand, if you could possibly have FP (or close to it), would HADES schools still be out of the question this late in the game? :</p>

Actually I can’t really apply next year, since I refuse to repeat a grade. I know it can be helpful, and it probably would be best for me, but I cannot stand the thought of one more year of high school.

Next year is my junior year, so I’d be applying for senior year. That seems fairly pointless to me.

Senior year wouldn’t be that bad, because they have postgraduate too.
One year is very little time, compared to your whole life, which you have ahead of you!
Repeating a grade shouldn’t be painful OR boring, if you get into a good school.
And seniors have the best selection of classes for most schools!

I say it’s definitely worth a try. :]

I’m still not up for it.

It sounds horribly closed-minded, and I guess it is, but I’m just not sure I could handle it. Repeating junior year and doing a post-grad year would probably help me TONS, but I’m just not sure I could bring myself to do it.

Apply to Berkshire!!! When I applied last year, I was waitlisted at Hotchkiss and Deerfield, but accepted to Taft and Berkshire. I chose Berkshire, and I honestly love it. My advisor is the Assistant Director of Admission, so if you do apply, I can give him my word about you.

As for me, I have the third highest GPA at the school, so even I find that it can be academically rewarding. They have given me tremendous opportunity academically, putting me in highly accelerated courses.

My Sophomore Courses
Advanced Precalculus Accelerated (Precalc and AB Calc in one year)
Advanced Chemistry
AP European History
Advanced English IV
Advanced Spanish III

What I love about Berkshire is that you can make it what you want. You can make it a sports school like Salisbury or Avon, you can make it an arts school like Loomis, and for me, you can make it an academically rigorous school like Exeter or Andover.
