What does it mean if you get a letter that the committee are waiting for MIDYEAR grades to make an admission decision? Does this mean they don’t consider you to be a strong candidate and will most likely NOT offer you a seat in the Class? If anyone has ever experienced this, what was the ultimate outcome…Wondering if you know from other siblings or friends, etc. Should we be worried?
@Ontocollegegal, It simply means our Admissions Committee needs a little more information before they make a decision. Hope that helps clarify! Don’t worry, once we get your mid year grades we will work hard to get you a decision as quickly as we can!
Best of luck,
A Pitt Admissions Staffer
Thank you! Is there something specific that the committee might be looking for, that would make them look that much more favorably on candidates that might be “on the bubble?”
@Ontocollegegal, Continued good performance in your grades. If you have any other new academic information to share (new test scores) feel free to let us know as well: 412-625-7488 or oafa@pitt.edu.

I had taken the SAT again, in October. I sent the scores but don’t think they would have been sent to Pitt, etc. already. I had noted that I was doing that in my application. Given that they were just released about 2 weeks ago, would Pitt have had a chance to see them and react? Trying to figure out if the letter I received was based on my NEWER SAT scores. If I call the office, would they be able to provide this information? Thank you!
@Ontocollegegal, Yes! They can take a look at your applicant profile and let you know what we have on file now and help you determine what else you can send: 412-624-7488.
Best,
