Hi! I'm a second semester freshman currently and I'm considering transferring. I've been thinking about this since back in October. The school I am at now just isn't what I expected. It's really big and far from home (7 hours). I was miserable last semester and this semester is only a little better. I have some good friends but the social scene here just isn't what I want. I applied to 2 state schools for transferring. I recently visited one and ruled it out because its not what I want. My other option is a really great school that is closer to home and smaller. The only problem is my boyfriend goes there and I'm worried about going to the same school as him. I'm not sure which is a bigger risk...staying at a school I don't like but have some good friends at or going to a school I love but risk not having any friends and having relationship issues???? any advice??

Well Ive already transferred once and im thinking of transferring again so I have just a little experience with this. First of all, when you transfer, there are always going to be second thoughts. In my case, I didn’t know how good I had it at my first school until I transferred to my second school. So make sure its really what you want, and that there will be no regrets. One suggestion is that you should never stay at a school you don’t like just because you have friends there. It might sound selfish but you are not at school for other people…you have to look out for your interests. If you transfer to a school that you know you really love, then you shouldn’t worry about making friends because that stuff will work out naturally. I suggest you weigh the pros and cons and make a decision and never look back…

i suggest you dont consider your boyfriend at all for this decision, you dont want to be miserable for a few years just in order to avoid slight awkwardness
