I hope this is under the right section, but I was wondering if I would be able to get a private student loan by the end of this month to get my payment of 1K to NYU. Does the money I receive from the lendor go straight to my student account or bank account?

I don't want to ask my parents/family for the money, I want to get it from a lendor in anyway.

You would have to go through a private bank and ask for a personal loan. Private student loans usually require a student to be registered for classes before they can be disbursed to the school or the student.

Have you started working at your summer job yet? If worse comes to worse and all your NYU costs are covered by grants or the loans which have not been deposited yet, then they may grant some leniency and you could pay in 4 installments or something like that but you need to talk to them pronto. If your parents are contributing something to your college costs then you should talk to them. Most colleges have a deposit or something due before August so it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise. NYU is expensive so looking out at the horizon this is just the first of many “due dates” for payments. If NYU won’t allow you to break the payments down and I’m cringing as I type this, you could maybe, maybe take the $1000 as a cash advance on a credit card and pay that off in the next 60 days or as quickly as you can out of summer earnings.

I think I’ll probably get a personal loan through a private bank, but I’ll double check to see if my parent’s can pay for it…this is actually the second deposit I’ve had to make in a month.
