I have a few questions I know my senior year hasn't even started yet but I'm set on Mizzou and have a few questions I was hoping someone could answer for me!

Is it easy to get a specific roomate? How does that process even work it seems confusing to me on the site. Is it through ROAR? Do I start that when I go up for orientation and my ID etc?

Which residence or apartment close to Mizzou is the best for freshman? I want to live with my friend that is also going there but we're okay with having a 4 room apartment thing isn't that what Tiger Diggs offers?

Any other tips you guys might have that might be useful to me would be great too

My daughter just moved in on Sunday so let me tell you the process, as best as I remember. Your “ROAR” date is based on how early you apply. She sent her app mid-September so she got the second ROAR date. You pick a Freshman Interest Group (FIG) which determines your dorm. Her FIG was sports related (she wants to be a sports broadcaster) so her dorm was South. She went with a random roommate so she went onto ROAR and found an “empty bed” and she was assigned that room (a 2 room, 4 person suite) If you want to room with your friend, the person who has the earlier ROAR date will ask for the roommate and they will match you up when the second person ROARS. They’ll send you the booklet and there’s a webvideo to watch. Just send in your application early, is my best advice.

My son lived in Discovery Hall which was excellent. It has 2 kids in one room, 2 next door, with a bathroom in between. The rooms are slightly bigger in Discovery, Excellence, Respect, & Responsibility Halls than the older dorms.

You don’t have to belong to a Fig. That is optional, but highly recommended. Only problem with my son’s is that by second semester, most of the kids had changed their majors and the FIG no longer really applied.

We picked our dorm room in March/April. You sign up on line, there is a place to add specific roommates. It’s a good system.

Once you move off campus, I can recommend Campus Lodge. They have great contracts, reasonably priced, an excellent shuttle to/from campus, etc. My son lived there 2 years and moved to Copper Beech this year.
