I want to take the SAT II for Chemistry in November, but I never took Chem and am taking AP Chem next year..

Would PR + Barrons be sufficient to score well even without taking Chem?

Thanks..

It depends. For some people, review books are good enough. It doesn't delve into much AP material. The questions are really straightforward. As with most subject tests, the questions test you on whether you know this or that.

Unless you're a rising senior, I'd wait until after AP chemistry (in which case you'll have a guaranteed 800 if you pay attention in class).

Since you're probably a rising senior, I would recommend studying for a week, then taking a practice test to determine whether to take it or not.

I think anyone can pull off a 700+ with a good amount of study. Getting a 750+ though will be extremely difficult, unless you are REALLY good at absorbing review books. But I think you need to have gone through the repetition of a class to get a score that high.

I've taken a year of general chem at the community college, and I studied for a couple weeks to get the 800. Without that class I don't think it would have been possible.

700 <---one week of prep (humongous moron)----> me X.X

wait till after your APs. you'll do well, i'm sure

I took it while I was taking Chem Honors, guess what, I got 800 out of 800. I didn't even attend my teacher's free review sessions, all I did was reading two review books: Kaplan and Princeton.
