College Board just updated the Tulane page. It nows lists the acceptance rate as 44%. Last year it was 45%. They took down the average test scores & class rank.

oh i didn't know that was an update---how could they have gotten this info that early?-that crap usually is released in late september

That's why I put the question mark after the 44%. I know that it is not supposed to change till September, but why would it change now unless Tulane told College Board their new acceptance rate?

I could see why Tulane would want it changed so quickly. They know that some people may decide to not attend Tulane because they fear a drop in selectivity/prestige, so by showing that the acceptance rate actually dropped, they may be able to win over some undecided students.

i have to admit that i prowl the collegeboard.com-esque websites all the time and did not notice the on percent change (i did notice the test scores.) seriously, how would enough people notice for it to really make a difference?

Last year in Sept all the major rating things like Collegeboard, Princetonreview, U.S. News, made an agreement that they would freeze the previous stats of Tulane at the prior level. They did not in anyway to effect them adversely in the recovery struggle. So this is either a reflection of what it should have been and didn't get posted then when the other changes were made or updated to reflect this years crop.

does anyone know or want to guess what the new SAT and gpa averages are?

Good Question!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you have naviance at your school? Go on there and see who they've accepted. They're definately accepting people at our school who have lower stats than I think they would have ever accepted before.

meh...i don't really care- its understood after what has happened that college trained elitists are going to be freaked out about going- hence the lower statistics

yall will prolly be surprised, but Tulane's acc rate for class 2010 dropped to just below 30% (21,700 apps/just under 7000 acc)... I guess thats some news for all the doubters who thought rates would go up lol... Avg SAT of acc students was app. a 1330/not sure of GPA and class rank... top 10% of app class got DSA, next 10% got Founders... for anyone who needs proof, ill post the email from Tulane Admissions

trusting the stats from a school's own admissions office has always been very shaky
......i don't know how the median SAT could have been a 1330 if only the top 20% got Founder's.....i recieved founders and had a 29ACT (1290-1310 SAT)...????----dipset i don't think tulane is so stringent with their scholarships ----that really don't have "cut-offs" for their scholarships like you posted---tulane is pretty subjective/holistic with who they give their scholarships to----unless mine was a complete mistake-- and I saw someone earlier post who had gotten founders and had a 1270

i mean-where do you think the college board stats come from? (btw 1330 was the avg-not the median) the stats came from the assistant director of admissions, so they seem pretty legit... the drop in acc rate is obviously a result of increased apps (acc # has been around 7000 for the past few yrs), which could have been caused by the free app/no essay application they sent around... as far as scholarships, the numbers I gave were the numbers I was told by admissions that typically put you in the running for merit-as I said tho Im sure there were some exceptions like the ones you have mentioned
