New scores, new chances?

i posted here before to ask about my chances and a lot of people said that if my SAT scores were higher I would have a better chance. Before I had 1370(or 2010). Now I have a 1430 (or 2070). Just to refresh you guys: I have A+ weighted GPA (no less then A GPA). I have good clubs, social action vp, lot of temple/jewish involvement, girls state, etc. Will my new SAT score make any difference and will my SATs still be a big factor in stopping me from getting in? (Someone said I need to get 700s in all but my new high scores are 680, 750, 640.)
Thanks,
E

eeemillee,

Your SAT scores make you a viable candidate. By themselves, they won't get you in (they seldom do), but they certainly won't keep you out.

Don't obsess about the scores. You have a good set of credentials. Beyond that, I'd suggest that you visit Brandeis and set up an interview (serious interest in the school counts).

Good luck.

You seem to misunderstand the method by which you 'convert' scores from the old SAT to the new one. Because there's one additional section, you multiply the old score by 1.5.

Thus:
1370 old SAT = 2060 new SAT
1430 old SAT = 2150 new SAT

Your retake score (1430/2150) is very respectale and gives you a very good chance for Brandeis. :)

Everyone applying as a first-year student has to submit the "new" SAT. Since some schools do not factor the score on the writing section into their decisions, some people cite their scores as with/without. It's not a conversion; it's simply addition of two/three scores.

i wasn't converting scores- those are my new scores for the new sat in math and cr. the () are total scores. sorry for the confusion
