New Student service/orientation trip?

Does U of A offer any type of new student service/orientation trip that occurs before classes begin? I’ve noticed that quite a few colleges offer these type of trips and I’m hoping to find something similar at U of A.

Hi @colomom‌
There are several for honors students. Here’s a link that describes them.

See this link, too: http://fye.ua.edu/tcamp.cfm</a>
The whole “First Year Experience” program is excellent - there are MANY things to become involved with. Have a poke around!

I’m a current freshman and I participated in both Alabama Action and Camp 1831. I highly recommend them to every type of person. Alabama Action was really nice seeing the tuscaloosa area and giving back. Camp 1831 was not nearly as cheesy or lame as I was expecting it to be. It’s a lot of fun if you go in with an open mind. I learned a lot in the two programs. And I am still friends with the people I met during both programs. Definitely try to do something before college. But if you can’t attend either of these, there are plenty of ways to meet friends elsewhere

Bama Bound Orientation. Google it.

DS did Outdoor Action. They did some community service (cleaning up at a state park) and a canoe trip. Lots of bonding time with cookouts as well. They stayed in their dorms and met each morning to ride in a van to their work location. Great experience!
