Hey peeps so i think i really screwed up this time. I didnt apply for housing for Stony Brook in time and its a 2hr train ride away from my house. Do i have to try to find an apartment near the campus or just take the train ride back and forth until next semester.
That’s kind of up to you. If you can afford it, try and find an apartment.
Did you call the school and ask if you can still apply? Some schools require you to live on campus as a freshman if you live a certain distance away. Call the school today and see what can be done.
Theres a big waiting list. They told me they i probably wont get one for the fall semester.
If affordable, I would look for an apartment that offers month by month leasing, so if you get off the waitlist for Spring semester, you are not locked into a year lease on an apartment. Commuting 4 hours each day from school will take a toll on your academics and social life in college.
You may even be able to get a sublet for the semester. People may be gone studying abroad or whatever that will free up a spot for you to get through the fall. Do not let on campus housing fall through the cracks again - get it in your phone with tons of reminders of deadlines, etc.
