No questionnaire, no acceptance?

I didn't receive the UCLA questionnaire that was apparently sent out already. I don't have great stats or anything, but does this mean I'm already out of the running?

Is there anyone who was accepted to UCLA last year but did not get the questionnaire?

What questionnaire? I didn’t hear anything from UCLA until late March.

^ that

are you guys current students?

Class of 2013, so I think my memory’s still good.

I didn’t hear about a UCLA questionnaire. Could you please tell me where did you hear that? I just checked my application status and everything is in - there was no mention of a questionnaire. Hmmm.

Wait, where did you check your application status?

You’re referring to the supplementary information form. It’s sent to several thousand students who are considered “borderline” that they want more information on. It’s optional to respond - my older brother didn’t bother with it and still got in. But, it will definitely help your chances, especially if your fall semester grades are good - a lot of applicants take 4 or 5 AP courses their senior year and UCLA likes to see how they hold up under the workload.

If you didn’t get it, you’re either a strong candidate for admission or it’s unlikely you would have been admitted anyway.

TheHutt, the latter will probably apply to me but so it goes. :(

Soad, I got a confirmation letter with my id# and the website. It might have been the main UC website - all the other UC’s had their own website where to check but I think UCLA just used the main UC website - but you can go in and review your data, check messages, etc.

P.S. Didn’t you apply to USC and got your app status changed? If you got into UCLA, which would you choose? :)

TheHutt, thanks for your clear response. I don’t think the latter applies to me, but I could be wrong. I’m not a reeeeally strong applicant numbers-wise (1990 SAT, 4.05 UC GPA) but I was invited to apply for a minority scholarship and I have great ECs and essays.

The Supplemental Questionnaire has evolved a bit over the last few years and there are several types: disability, talent, and borderline. There may be more, but I don’t have confirmation. Disability questionnaire is often optional, as the UCs cannot use it “against” you for admission consideration. Questionnaires for borderline students are almost mandatory since the lack of additional information will likely result in denied admissions.

At this point in time, UCLA would have separated the applications into three piles: accept, reject, and undecided. The Supplemental Questionnaire will help split the undecided pile in two and the final decisions will be released mid-March (as is typical for UCLA).

i got a question thing from ucb

As a current student, I never received the questionnaire, and I’m still here.

UCB sent out a questionnaire, but from what I’ve read so far on this thread, it is not used for the same purposes - it says in the questionnaire that everyone will remain anonymous, so they won’t know who filled out what form.

yeah i got the one that everyone will remain anonymous.

No, UCB sent out one for the disability, talent, and borderline students as well. Is is strange that I got one from UCB (about my talent) but not UCLA?

No, because the two schools’ admissions departments act independently.

You guys really need to stop over thinking and chill out.

Well, obviously they act independently, but they still look for similar applicants and their applicant pools themselves are extremely similar. I’d assume that if someone is borderline at one of the two, they’d likely be borderline at the other. The only thing I can think (and hope) about my situation, personally, is that my talents (screenwriting/writing/film) are ones that would obviously fit in and be able to thrive at UCLA, but UCB might question why I’d want to go there if I’m passionate about those aforementioned talents.

from all my sister’s friends we don’t know anyone who’s gotten the supplemental questionnaire from ucla yet, only from ucb. ucla’s went out later than ucb’s last year.

I got the supp
