No tours on January 16th (oh shoot)

I was accepted to Tulane and decided I would have to visit. I scheduled a flight leaving my hometown on Sunday, January 15th and returning from New Orleans on Tuesday, January 17th.
I am a complete idiot, so I didn't bother to make sure they were offering tours on the 16th. Well, unfortunately, they're not. And I'm leaving at 6:30 AM Tuesday, so there won't be time then either.

Any ideas on whether I would be able to give myself a fairly decent self-guided tour? Or whether I can email admissions and see if a student would be willing to give me a tour?

I think I'm going to have to change the flight itinerary....

Congrats.

Do you know anyone at Tulane? My S & D got better tours and insight into various campuses courtesy of friends, older siblings of friends, etc., than from the official tours. If you are active in a HS youth organization, contact the college-level equivalent at Tulane (if there is one). A reason to visit when offices are open is if you want to / need to talk to someone regarding specific programs (meet with a professor, coach, honors program, pre-x office), financial aid, special needs or specialty program housing, etc. But it was the unofficial visits with students that sold my S & D on their respective schools.

You can certainly get a decent feel for campus and all without a tour guide, but having one is better I think. Similar to what HereWeGo2 says, if someone from the last graduating class or two from your high school is a student at Tulane, even if you don’t know them, contact them and see if they would be willing to spend some time with you. But I think the 16th is MLK Day so most of the school is doing community service. The semester doesn’t actually start until the next day, that Tuesday. If you can scoot your schedule a day or two later you would see a more typical slice of Tulane life, and be able to sit in on a class or two if you wanted.

Thanks for the input, I ended up changing the itinerary to a different day. I think I’ll get the more typical campus feel that way! Thanks again!
