So if I enroll at Weinberg, can I take any classes from Medill, or are there journalism opportunities in Weinberg?

Umm...no, and no, really. Medill classes are generally journalism-specific, meaning Medill people HAVE to take them and they fill up immediately in pre-registration. They really only seem to make room for those students. There are some marketing classes (Advertising and Direct Marking) in the IMC program housed in Medill that you should be able to get into, but not much more. And Weinberg has some writing classes in the English department, but nothing for Journalism, I don't think.

This is partially true, namely that they fill up quickly due to pre-registration. That being said, however, there are certain courses that are still open for non-Medill students. Two of my best friends just transferred into Medill and they began taking journalism courses before their transfers. Additionally, I just transferred out of Medill and my former advisor told me that I would have no trouble getting into Medill courses if I ever wanted to continue with them. So it is possible to get into Medill classes without being a Medillian.

There's also integrated marketing communications certificate that's open to all undergrads...

While preference goes for Medill students during course registration, Medill courses are available to non-journalism majors. I could have registered for a journalism intro class at Northwestern and I wasn't a Medill student.
