Northeastern Transfer Students Fall 2011

Does anyone else have to do through the verification process from the IDOC for financial aid?..

I never received an e-mail from IDOC after submitting my CSS profile.
This is aggravating.

I need to send all my documentation to Mt. Vernon and than its 2 weeks from than to get financial aid. ■■■.

@Chaddi-- I had to do the same thing… I’m sorry to say, don’t expect much from NU in financial aid, because you will most likely be let down by the weak financial aid package they have to offer you.

@NEU2011 aww I was hoping they would be able to help out a little bit :(

Now I’m afraid of even seeing what they offer. How bad was it for you?

just received acceptance… can’t put into words how excited/relieved i am.

what is the deal with transfer housing? i’m about to go apartment shopping. and i didn’t apply for fin aid.

@Chaddi

0 EFC here and got about $30,000 per year, almost a third of which is loans. So in addition to these loans I also have to cover about $20k per year. A major letdown and not near enough to help me afford NEU :(

Good question HRF, the acceptance email says to go onto myneu and fill out the housing app but I dont see it.

I only see a place to put down a housing deposit…wait does that mean im offered housing too?

Alright, so I sent in the rest of the required documents a few weeks ago. But for the past week when checking the application status it says I still need a Letter of Recommendation. However, they’ve recieved all my other documents including a “Teacher Recommendation”. What’s the difference?

Also, my Official’s Report was written in a similar fashion to a letter of recommendation. I’m hoping they know my OR letter should have been with the OR, while my actual Letter of Recommendation was in a different envelope (everything got mailed together in the same envelope).

I think I’m making this way more stressful than it should be.

@justrun Usually you download the officials report from the common app which is what I did, had my dean fill it out and along with that the dean wrote a recommendation type letter that you speak of. I think you’ll be fine for the most part, try calling them. In my case it said I needed a “college transcript” but “college transcript 1” was received but it automatically fixed itself, so try calling, just to make sure.

@HRF and CGC… I have the housing deposit and under it the housing app. They did say housing was first come bases but I’m not sure.

@RH1992 Aww man at this point I’m hoping for the same package as you as I have heard of some packages much worst than that :(

Oh, I did. I actually didn’t get the chance for my Dean to fill it out, it was done by my academic advisor.

I’ll probably give them a call tomorrow.

I just received my transfer evaluation by email. Well I had to login but they notified me that it was available. A bit disappointing with ALOT pending. Almost 2/3 of my units are pending. I’m guessing the hurried the eval just to get it out.

When should I expect financial aid info? Did everyone else receive transfer eval then financial aid in that order?

@Chaddi, mine was significantly less than rh1992… I don’t know if I’ve heard of a better financial aid package as rh1992 unfortunately. They offer the achievement scholarship to almost anyone who applies and is accepted and not much else, yet $5,000 dollars (the transfer achievement award) deducted from roughly $52,000 doesn’t do a whole lot. I’m really hoping to hear that they have offered somebody a reasonable financial aid package, because so far I haven’t heard of one…

I got a pretty decent fin aid package today considering that I get only the option of loans and a trivial scholarship at my current school.

It may be due to the fact that my brother is entering college this coming year, but I got about 10,000 excluding loans. Again, this feels fair to me, considering I have little help from my current school.

I have yet to receive a transfer evaluation though, and that will be a deciding factor in where I choose to go next fall.

Hello all,

Looking for a bit of help here. It’s nice to see that I’m not the only one who’s been checking the “Application Status Checklist” every hour on the hour for the last month! I do have a few concerns.

In your opinions, what are my odds of getting in?
I am a US Army Veteran
I’m transferring 30cr with a 3.89GPA
By the end of the summer I will have an additional 30cr to transfer in for a total of 60cr.

Also, on my “App. Status Checklist” still shows “College Transcript 1” which is for the current term and “application fee” which has been waived due to my veteran status. I’ve been into the Admissions office and expressed my concerns but they tell me not to worry about either of those two. Have any of you been accepted with items left in your required documents section?

Anybody transferring into the Criminal Justice program?

Anything that will help ease my mind would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and good luck to all.

@ JessseR: When did you apply ??..
Well in my opinion you will be accepted very soon, 3.89 with 30 credit means ur in…
I got accepted n i have not got anything in the required documents, if they have told you not 2 worry about it, then i dont think you need to send in anything.

I applied in February, however, my last transcript didn’t get in until Apr. 14th. The lady in the admissions office said to expect a 2 week turn around so I’m not overly concerned with the fact I haven’t heard back yet. My biggest concern is the fact I still have items in my “required documents” list. While they may not be applicable it still concerns me that my app will not be reviewed because it’s not “complete”

Hi I was just wondering if anyone applying to the business school, who is currently a freshman trying to transfer has heard from admissions yet?

same as dianeruth, anyone get accepted to the business school yet? I would like to hear your stats if you don’t mind.
They are doing kind of a sloppy job with my application (still missing 2 items of which I sent over 3 weeks ago), so now I have to resend them in again…

I got into the business school about a weeks ago. From what I heard business is one of the last majors the make decisions for. I was also supply chain management which isn’t popular so I got told it made it a bit quicker for me.

@sportygrl15827 oh ok thats good to know… are you currently a freshman though?

yes i am a freshman. it may also help that im coming from university of maryland, which has a top 25 business program and is hard to get into as a direct admit. i had a 3.475 gpa and after this semester will have 39 credits. i also was accepted last fall and declined admissions so getting in once already may have also eased me in. good luck to both of you i hope you get in too!
