Northeastern Transfer Students Fall 2011

@Chaddi
is you don’t mind me asking, what were your stats? did you have a lot of activies? what year are you going to be in the fall? what types of courses did you take in your freshmen year (assuming that you will be a sophomore in the fall)? I’m asking just to get an idea of what I should take for the College of Science

@alexxa13

freshmen year
sem1
-BIO 1
-Pre-calc
-Critical thinking
-Eng. 1
first semester gpa:3.7

sem 2.
-BIO 2
-Chem 1
-Eng 2
-Computers
Mid term: A-, C+,A,A

I will be a sophomore in the fall but I want to retake my science courses as I was in a community college and I think if i retake them at a 4 yr school it will help me in my pursuit of post graduate studies. So I guess a froshmore? Literally had no activities. I was in honors society.

hey guys does anyone know the chances of getting housing?

Dianeruth I just got an update on my accepted portal

"IMPORTANT Housing Deposit Update

Please be advised that we are no longer able to accept housing deposits. A housing waitlist is available. If you wish to be placed on the waitlist, please contact Jennifer Camacho at 617-373-4021. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused"

So I guess if you sent in you deposit your good.

I just saw this on myneu, and now I’m begining to panic. I got accepted and everything, but I didn’t get the chance to send in my housing deposit. I’m going on the wait list. Am I completely out of luck? Housing is a pretty big deal for me…

Im in the same boat as you justrun, I hesitated because of the 400 dollar deposit.

Oh well.

Yeah, I also missed the deadline for housing. I talked to somebody from the housing office who told me to email housing@neu.edu to put my name down on the list. She also said that the waitlist is about 300 deep at the moment.

On my credit audit, for all of my courses it says “T”, does that mean they transfer?

^ yes it does (in regards to the credit audit).

I got my FA aid today, expected it to be low but I guess it hurts finally seeing it. 12,500 including loans and the transfer scholarship I guess everybody gets.

Going to be hard to justify taking out a truckload worth of extra loans to attend Northeastern. Looks like I have a decision to make.

I’ve received my transfer credit evaluation but I need to send in course descriptions from my catalog to receive the rest of my credit.

Is there a link I should be looking for or did I miss a piece of paperwork that should have come in the mail?

@lefthanded how did you know you have to send in the descriptions? I cannot understand my evaluation at all. Doesn’t make sense. But I think the link your looking for is

https://neubos3ss375v.nunet.neu.edu/transfercredit/TRSStudentlogin.asp

@CGC I’m sorry to hear that I still have to wait for my FA, Do you mind if I ask you what your EFC was? I know mine will be low :(

^ Chaddi

My EFC is around 10,000. Hopefully you can do better than me, I’m actually mulling an appeals process but I’m sure it will go no where.

^ I hope everything works out for you. Ugh! I’ve been waiting for a package for so long I was part of their verification process and they kept asking for more and more documents. Finally last week I call and they say I should have something by fri. I call today they said a week or 2 from now. ■■■. I just want to know what I’m up against so I can start planing.

@CGCGCG26, Good luck with the appeal. I tried… but no luck. I don’t know what your financial aid situation is, but hopefully they will re-evaluate your financial aid package. I didn’t have any luck though.

I just got rejected for transfer for CBA :frowning: that hurt

what is your stat xhongxkongx?

I applied with a 3.4-3.5 for junior transfer. My midterm report was a 3.9. Worked part-time and volunteered throughout sophomore year.
i feel like the average gpa for this year’s applicants would be a 3.6-3.7.
The standards keep on raising I can barely keep up…

@chaddi I actually don’t tender exactly where I read it but if the class is pending or has not been evaluated yet chances are it’s because they want the course description. Also, yes the evaluation is extremely confusing. I’m hoping that once I get there for orientation I can transfer a couple more units after a face to face with a counselor. I know I took legit classes so any classes not transferring will really bother me.

@xhongxkongx I can tell you that I was accepted to northeastern with stats below a 3.6 GPA. I admit I felt it was a long shot for me but I did have other schools I was really excited to attend. Also, where are you applying from? I doubt it makes too much of a difference but I’m from socal which may have played a minor role.

I also work part time and volunteer 3-6 hour a week at an elementary school. My guess is that your admittance was based on the major you were trying to enter, NOT that you are unqualified.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to appeal for additional financial aid?

I’ve received a dismal amount. :(

I put down my deposit a day or two late and was placed on the waitlist. Just the other day I received an email notifying me that I was, in fact, guaranteed housing.

Got rejected with a 3.8 because i applied in april 1st.
