HRF112 - you got an e mail saying that ur housing was guaranteed? I put in my deposit in late april and i never received an email =(

iPod,

I applied like April 5th and got accepted like two or three weeks later. Dunno what’s up.

BTW the housing waitlist is like 300 deep, I guess I should start looking for off campus housing, eh?

Ipod,

I would not say that applying April 1st is the reason you got denied but I would assume it had a role in the decision. Of course the later someone waits to apply the more applicants they are compared against.

I applied mid march and received an acceptance late April.

Any chance you were missing paper work or anything like that?

lefthanded4life-

no i dont think so. i was missing the financial documentation for international students. but they said it wont affect anything.

@lefthanded4life
im also from so.cal trying to transfer to northeastern next year as a 2nd semester fresh. or next fall
why do you think that being from cali would have an advantage?
also what school did you transfer from?

@CJE don’t feel bad I didn’t receive one either. I assume it’s only for those who got wait listed.

I transferred from Glendale college (JC).

I feel that out of state does give a small leg up. Obviously a bigger leg up if it were a public school because we would be paying out of state tuition and money is important right now. for private schools it is a smaller leg up but all schools are trying to diversify there students all the time. Schools try to keep there gender ratio at 50/50 or close to it because it shows a stronger school. Also CA (atleast from what I’ve been told by other schools) is one of the biggest states for Fordham students and I would think that it would be close to the same for northeastern. I guess it’s not a huge deal but I think it is definitely considered even though they won’t admit it.

@CGCGCG26-

Would you mind letting me know your stats? Maybe my credential just didn’t match up after all.

CJE224 - I put my deposit down on the 4th and received an email on the 13th notifying me that they had space available and that I did not need to be placed on the waitlist. Go figure.

Anybody know what the situation is for transfer housing?

Ipod,

I had 45 credits(63 now) with a 3.9 GPA. Major = Government.

Didn’t send any HS records / Test scores.

Is anyone able to register for classes yet?

I have not tried registering for classes. My understanding was that we would register for classes at our Orientation session this summer. I sure hope I have not missed anything but I don’t believe I’ve heard anything about registering for classes this early. Are you talking about summer classes?

Also, my big question right now is when do we find out about housing and room mates? Any ideas? I’ve heard mid June but just through word of mouth.

Hey guys, congrats to all of you
My friend is transferring and he applied by 5/1, but still hasnt got an answer, should he have got one by now?
Also, arent they supposed to send an ID number? (I applied as an undergrad freshman, and I got an ID number almost as soon as my application was submitted.)
We are worried that the documentation got there too late, any insight?

@zaphira

He should get an answer soon it takes 4 - 6 weeks.
He should have got an e-mail by now saying his application was received and it will have the ID number in the e-mail. Don’t worry about the documents getting there late as long as the app was submitted by 5/1. But if he did not get an e-mail saying his application was received within a week after submitted you should call them asap.

To the person above who said they are an international student who didn’t submit financial documentation- that may have been important even if they blew it off.

Admission for international students is NOT need-blind, which means that they can reject you if they think you might not be able to pay for everything without help. It’s completely legal. So even though the documentation may not have been REQUIRED, if they were on the fence about your application and saw that you didn’t submit it, they may have thought it was because you had some kind of financial hardship- and rejected you because of it.

There are plenty of other possibilities, but that is just one of them.

i have to pick my classes for fall at my current university (ill be a freshmen in the fall, but i plan to transfer to Northeastern in my sophomore yr - they said theyre not taking 2nd semester transfers this yr). im at a california state school which are impacted. i signed up to be a part of freshmen programs so i get priority reg. do you think these classes are strong enough to get me into Northeastern? oh im applying as a behavior neuroscience major or psych. not 100% sure which one yet

1st semester
- bio 101
- math (probably 115 or 120)
- english 101
- univ. 101 (1 credit- required for me to get priority classes)
- should i add another class? maybe psych? i dont want to take a too heavy schedule & not do well, but i also think i should atleast get 12 credits. those 4 classes would only be 10

2nd semester
- english (dont know the number)
- poli science
- what else is good for a science major? maybe chem?

And intro to psych class would be good, but make sure that it will transfer over. It would suck to have to take it twice.

And is your math class a calculus class? The numbers don’t really mean anything outside of your school. BNS majors (to my knowledge) are required to take one or two semesters of calculus, so having one of them under your belt would be a great asset. That way you wouldn’t fall behind as a transfer.

BNS has to take chemistry, but pysch may not. Try to decide on which major you want to do before jumping into a bunch of science classes. Here we have two semesters of general chemistry and two semesters of organic, but I’m not sure if BNS has to take both organic classes… probably does.

do you think i should take 3 or 4 classes plus the University 101 course (which is 1 credit & probably won’t transfer)
i want to be competitive, but i dont want to overwhelm myself in my first semester of college and bomb it.
do you think 10 credits would be good then 12 my second semester?

@alexxa I went to a JC my first semester so my experience may be different because you will have on campus activities you will hopefully take part in. I took 9 units my first semester and looking back it was both good and bad. Some of the classes I was completely not ready for while others were a breeze. Although my grades were not affected I was not ready for what college had in store for me. Then again I was playing baseball at a JC and those guys never went to class and were not great friends(academically). If you can wrap you head around what college will throw at you early and make the right choices with friends and study habits 2 extra units should not be a problem at all.

For people who are going to NEU in the fall. When/where do we find info about our housing? Roomates? etc.

I think we’re supposed to hear from them on/after June 15.
