Waitlisted by Northwestern and accepted by WashU...h/o isn't it usually the other way around? ;-)

Regardless, I think that this WL combined with my Chicago rejection spells disaster for 5PM Tuesday. Holding out for JHU though!!

Last year, 32% of admitted students enrolled, which means NU will go to the waitlist only if more than ~68% decline its offer. I don't know about the stats this year. If the yield is lower, NU will surely go to the waitlist. If higher, it might not. In other words, just because an admitted student declines their offer doesn't mean someone on the waitlist will automatically be offered a spot (NU accounts for the yield when making offers); only if enough people decline will NU do that.

Waitlisted at Northwestern and UVA tonight.

Life is good.

Waitlisted…probably gonna accept it, being that NW is a top choice…and the next-best school I’ve made so far (UVa) is well further down my list.

I really want to go to Evanston :(

Have stats for this year come out yet?

Waitlist number three (WUSTL and Davidson also waitlisted me)

Considering the fact that my educational plans include med school, however, I will probably be better off attending my flagship state U and saving up money. I doubt that I could get any financial aid from the schools I got waitlisted at even if I did get in.

i think it’s weird too, i got in duke, but waitlisted NU…

waitlisted at NU and Wash U
soo not much hope for the ivies!

I was waitlisted as well, bummer. My councelor is optimistic though, because schools are dipping much into their waitlists this year due to the financial situation, which has caused more people to go public. It will work out one way or another.

Waitlist sucks. Hard. But it could be worse, guys. We could have been rejected. Of course, that begs the question…is it preferable to KNOW you’re not in, or to keep hoping for another two months? >< I WANT TO GO TO NU NOW. ;_;

Another spot has opened up! Just logged on to check FA, and not possible for our family. Best of luck to one of you!

The worst part is…I love Northwestern, and I would turn down more prestigious schools, including the entire Ivy League (except Princeton), to go there.

My “please accept me off the waitlist” letter is going to be so pathetic.

Yeah, after all my NESCAC rejections today, I feel pretty fortunate to be waitlisted here, I guess. I’m definitely taking the spot now. Ivies aren’t looking too pretty at this point.

ughh I was waitlisted too. I loved northwestern, but i’m in at Johns Hopkins too. What do you guys think. I really want to stay on the waitlist and go to NW but the wait might literally kill me. And what are you guys going to do/send to admissions because I know they say they discourage additional material

Und, I’d take the spot on the waitlist but plan to enroll at JHU (which is an excellent school, congratulations :))

thanks liontree, i think thats what im going to do unless im accepted at an ivy which is just not going to happen i thinlk. But yeah NW is amazing, I think it would be worth the wait

you never know. you just might get accepted at an Ivy. Admissions these days seem like a crapshoot.

Just some data from NU…they put a lot of people on the waitlist last year…

hope this helps

since i just got into CMU and JHU, I think i’m not gonna take the waitlist and free up a spot for you guys!

ughhh third waitlist including tulane and boston college. Brown is not looking too good right now but I’m definitely accepting my place on the waitlist since NW is in my top 2. I absolutely LOVE IT and am desperate to be taken off that list!!

Well, I probably won’t be attending Northwestern, so that frees up another spot!
