My D got waitlisted last year at NU. Sent a really strong response stating specifically that she would accept if granted admission and got in…

Don’t know if it’s urban legend or not, but apparently NU waitlists a lot of out-of-staters who didn’t do a campus visit because they don’t want to jeopardize their yield rate.

I think they will release some of the decisions in the first week of may… That’s what they told my counselor…even though the e-mail I got said that they wouldn’t know until second week of June…

I really want to get in…
I will pay the deposit at wustl though…

Same here! The email I received was a very canned answer stating that they don’t know if they’ll be going to the waitlist yet and June 20th will be the latest date for offering admission.

Well, I heard that some of the schools do not necessarily send it.
I saw someone’s posts on the CC and he was waiting until July 20 or something because he did not get the rejection note.

man im just flippin oout about this northwestern waitlist thing, does anyone know when do they actually start sending notification if u get off the list? and via what (like mail or email) ah northwestern is so my top choice right now and man…good luck to all you guys too im just too anxious and flippin out!!!

most schools call on the phone. the person I know who got in off the waitlist last year was phoned and it was in mid May. He then got into another school a few days later off their waitlist and went there. It’s important to pick a good choice and be happy with it. don’t count on waitlists. They don’t typically contact you unless they are offering you a spot. I don’t know any schools that send ‘sorry you aren’t coming off the waitlist’ letters, though they may exist.

They said they wouldn’t know whether to use waitlists or not until mid-June. Frankly, I don’t really count on it. I heard that they are overenrolled.

Called admissions up a few hours ago and got the explanation that they have been accepting waitlisted students on a rolling basis. Dont have any numbers though. and yes there have been students who have gotten off the list already.

Thank you for your email and congratulations on your high school graduation. At this time, it does not look likely that we will admit more students from the waitlist.

If we should choose to admit more students, please know that we will give your application serious consideration.

Sincerely,

*This is his reply to me asking about the waitlist status. I’ve emailed him a few times with letters of interest and stuff like that. I don’t really know how to react to this because I’ve known but didn’t want it to be confirmed just yet.

chicamuylista-when I saw your name on this blog posting I was hopeful for you. I am sorry to hear it did not turn out, how disappointing. I hope your college you matriculated turns out to exceed your expectations. ~APOL

chicamuylista - Didn’t you get into U. Chicago? That’s a great school right in Chicago. You’ll love it there, in a few months you’ll wonder why Northwestern was so important to you. We have a very good friend who teaches there, if other profs are half as good as he is you’ll fall in love immediately.

Thanks for your support! After a nice walk, I realized that the game isn’t over. I went back through my emails and realized he said the same thing, with different wording, the last time. My feelings are still mixed but I still have some hope in me.

Amtc, I was rejected from Chicago unfortunately, but I don’t blame them for it, I would have rejected me too

As of now, I’m attending Cornell but yeah, you know the rest.
