Good luck to everyone. Still haven’t heard back either

Based on last year’s decisions, I feel like there should be a wave of notifications this week.

I sincerely hope so – this is my last tolerant week of patient waiting.

Accepted about 2 days ago. Good luck everyone!!!

@Hanyuyu95 how did you get your decision? Would you mind posting your stats?

I received an email with decision in it. Its subject is “Northwestern Application - Status Update”.
Here is my basic stats:
International Student
Top 30 University
Rising Sophomore
GPA 4.0
SAT 2300-
Hold some leadership positions

Anyone else apply to McCormick?

Really, just me?

^ I think either people just don’t care about this thread anymore, many haven’t seen your post, or people who applied to McCormick already got their decisions and don’t bother anymore keeping up

That’s a bummer, but yeah, it’s pretty late in the game. I’m still waiting, but needless to say my chances are dwindling quickly. Not quite sure what they are waiting for.

For what it’s worth, I’m applying to McCormick and haven’t heard back yet, but I’ve already enrolled at Rice. Now it’s really just waiting for a letter so that NU rejects me or I reject NU.

I’m pretty much fed up with waiting lol. By the time they release our decisions next Friday, I’ll have waited over 5 weeks from when decisions were first made (we think) on May 6th. Every Tuesday and Friday since then, just been anxiously preparing myself for the results the night before. “Will this be the day?” At this point, it’s just… I’m not sure I care if I get rejected or not at this point, it’s just so exhausting worrying.

“Now it’s really just waiting for a letter so that NU rejects me or I reject NU.”
^ChiGuy had it dead on, I’ve already enrolled somewhere else too, waiting to see if NU’s financial aid might be worth it or not.

Northwestern is a really great school, but their transfer process is absolutely grueling.

@jkim3265 keep on preaching brotha

To everyone still waiting:

I contacted the admissions office to request an expedited decision. While they could not promise that it would be ready by the date I requested, I was told that the process for transfers is “definitely winding down” and that most decisions should be released sometime next week.

A note was put in my file that a decision was requested by the 15th. As soon as I hear something, I’ll let you guys know.

Based on the past couple of years, it seems like the people receiving their decisions on the tail-end were almost all rejections. What I’m curious about, however, is that I haven’t heard much from any engineering students, which may suggest that either most engineering students haven’t heard back yet, or that they have already been accepted and just didn’t bother to post here.

@Bridgewood I feel that most people are inclined to post if they’ve been accepted or waitlisted, and less inclined to post if they’ve been rejected. Considering so few decisions have been posted, and rejections tend to come near the end, I’m led to believe that there’s still a good chance that we’ll see a few more acceptances on CC.

I really can’t understand why it is taking the committee so long to release their decisions. Even Georgetown didn’t take as long as this. Does anyone know?

If Northwestern simply released their heap of rejections at the end, I would say that is in incredibly poor taste and just plain mean. Make us wait over a month to hear “No”? Yea, no thanks.

@jkim3265 While I do agree it’s unpleasant to wait, it makes sense that the admissions committee would wait to evaluate all applicants before submitting final decisions, even with rolling admissions. There’s a limited number of spots available, and NU wants to make sure that the absolute best applicants are the ones receiving those spots. It’s hard to predict the strength of the entire applicant pool if they’ve only evaluated say, 20 applicants so far.

For example, if they deemed an applicant unworthy of admission early on in the process and issued an immediate rejection, only to find out later after evaluating all candidates that maybe that early applicant should have been waitlisted (as a result of a poorer-than-expected applicant pool) it’ll be too late. I tend to disagree with rolling admissions in general, because an applicant deserves to be evaluated in comparison to the rest of the pool.

On the flip side, say the committee admits a student early on, only to find out that better applicants existed in the pool that perhaps deserved the spot more. An applicant shouldn’t deserve to get in because they submitted the application on February 1st and the later applicant submitted it on March 30th. I believe all applicants that submit their materials on time should be evaluated equally, and then after evaluating the entire pool, the committee should issue out acceptances, waiting list offers, and rejections.

Sorry to give such a long speech, but it’s helped me to be more patient with this entire arduous process. Best of luck to everyone!

Hi everyone,
I saw that there was a lot of anxiety over the results and wanted to add whatever I could.
I got my acceptance letter to Mccormick last Thursday.

I am still somewhat worried that the acceptance may have been a mistake, and am waiting for the paper mail to arrive just to be sure (I was a very special case, and sorry, but I don’t think I’ll be posting my stats. FYI, I’m an international student).

I wish you all the best of luck.

@leesh1995 I highly doubt your letter was a mistake, so congratulations!! Will you be attending?
