Let’s just call it case closed. I apologize if I offended anyone.
When do people think the first round will come out? Do you think next Wednesday? Or do you think it can come out before next Wednesday?

at this point I suspect it could come whenever… I no longer want to be speculative because I have been consistently wrong but I also want to maintain my excitement about the decision. such a tough line to tow. hopefully some of us will hear before may
To more clearly articulate my previous point (#516),
None of us really know anything at all so asking over and over again what is going to happen isn’t gonna do anything because we’re all just college kids, and the admissions office has repeatedly told people that there’s no way to know when decisions are coming out, which is normally annoying but now that the virus is here i think we need to cut them some slack
I don’t think last year’s trends are going to apply in any way to this situation anyway, like maybe the Wednesday thing at 5:30 could still stand, but everyone is dealing with covid drama rn so i don’t think they need to stick to any specific schedule
i, though, am peeved because the other transfer school i applied to has a commitment deadline of may 1st lmao
so the clock kinda do be ticking, but what can I do
everyone needs to stop fighting on here tho dang it’s raising my blood pressure hearing about harvard this harvard that and seeing the same question asked over and over
hehe ok gn good luck tho everybody i hope some of us can meet up on campus next year woo woo go wildcats
At this point it seems like we can not rely on past years to make guesses. Will we definitely receive an email notification that a status has been posted? If so I guess all we can do is check our emails regularly while we wait.
Also, does anyone know if NU will accept courses that we pass/failed this semester? Do we have to notify them if it is before we receive an admissions decision? My college moved to a policy where pass/fail courses count towards our major requirements specifically for this semester in light of Corona.
@swimgirl838
I think you should probably email NU to make sure they accept pass/fail courses because some schools are picky about particular ones. But given the situation, I’ve seen a lot of schools accept pass/fail so I would most likely think they would accept them, but I would email to make sure and I am sure you can email them anytime about this inquire.
And since there is a lot of variability in this years thread compared to the several last years threads, the only thing we can all do is wait especially given the current situation right now.
I an new to this year’s thread, but I transferred to Northwestern last year. I just wanted to put in my two sense. I think Northwestern is late responding because either because they are just disorganized due to staff being remote or they are waiting to hear on the incoming freshman class acceptances-which I heard with most schools is not going to be by the usual May 1. I would think they will take transfers even if classes are remote in the fall. All universities are worried about enrollment in the fall and have already lost out on room and board for the spring quarter-the school said in a letter that was $25 million. They are anxious for students to enroll. Within a few days of admittance, the school comes back with your credit evaluation and financial aid so there are a lot of ducks to get in a row before they respond. I believe that this is going to be a great year for transfers so just hang tight.
@etransfer2019 - thanks for spreading some positive thoughts
@etransfer2019 what do you mean by “great year for transfers?”
more spots for the same number of applicants. Georgetown released its numbers: just under the same number of transfer applicants from the year before but 33% more spots to fill.
Yield uncertainty means alternative sources, aka transfers and waitlisted students, are tapped
Do you guys think schools are going to become need aware then?
NU had mandatory pass/fail for the spring quarter and optional for the winter. For the spring, despite P/F it counted towards your major. I don’t think it did in the winter quarter, but we only. As a result, I would guess they will be flexible for the spring quarter with pass/fail.
By great year, I just mean I think that they are going to have more spots than usual. I heard in late March a number of these schools took a lot of high school seniors for rd that they had deferred in the ed round. That does not usually happen. The schools are nervous about students taking gap semesters/year if this remote process drags on. They need revenues and believe there yield may be lower for next year. In terms of being more need aware, that is possible. This situation has never been tested so it is hard to know how they are going to work their way out of this financial mess.
That’s going to suck if they become need aware.
rip, efc is 0. its been a good ride everyone.
@transfer2020dab can you link me to the Georgetown stats? I want to see if it could happen to Northwestern also, given the crisis
This is so sad. I really need aid and now my chances are probably even lower.
It’s a stressful process, but can you guys stop looking for reasons to discount your application? No indication that admissions is now need-aware, but even then, it doesn’t mean a rejection, and you have no idea how to estimate your chances. Relax. You will be OK.
decisions are out!!!
please tell me u are not trying to give me a heart attack
im serious haha
