So what do you think our chances are after we get an interview?

I'm guessing that if you haven't heard by now...it's hopeless?

well I think 120 are chosen for an interview and 60 are selected. So a 50% chance?

Relwarc, I am still holding on to some semblance of hope. I called the HPME office and they said interview invites will still be occurring until mid Feb. and possibly a little after that.

Really? :hope inflates: If only...

i just got a letter from the med program today...

too scared to open it lol

I think it might be a rejection, maybe. I got a letter today...didn't make it. :( I'm not too bummed though, but I didn't realize how competitive it was until now. Good luck to the rest of you guys!

i got the letter today....rejection. I already knew it, but i finally got the solid proof.

It seems that they scaled back the class size this year to 20. This may be the reason for so many rejections.

WHAT???????????????????????? O-O; please tell me your joking. It's hard enough to get in as it is~!!
-dies-

I've gotten reports from 2 applicants this year. One guy thought it was a rumor, but the other guy confirmed it I believe. I hope I'm wrong...you'd think they would make this public...but that WOULD explain all the rejections from otherwise qualified candidates

i know that they were talking about cutting it down to 25, but i was told it wasn't yet official and it wouldn't be taking place until next year

are you serious? Wouldn't they tell the applicants? How did you confirm it?

Also, do they send out rejection/acceptance letters at once/?

got my rejection letter today too... =( ..meh

who thought they had a good interview at HPME?

I think I had a good HPME interview experience. I had four total - one medical doctor (pretty good), one student, one Dean of engineering and a biomedical researcher. Were you interviewed rest in pieces? If so, when. I was on Feb 21st.

yeah
i got interviewed on february 22nd
not to sound cocky or anything but i think i did really well
i applied to CAS

my student interview was really good
my faculty interview was also awesome- afterwards, he said I did "great" and was "an interesting person with a real, true commitment to medicine and an amazing diversity of interests" and said I would be excellent for HPME

accckk
i don't like talking positively about myself like this
I thought it was kinda odd that he would give me feedback on my interview afterwards but whatever

Take heart, those who got a rejection. From what I've heard, the school of medicine uses a curve in which 10% of the med students fail EVERY test no matter what they get. This curve system fosters a spirit of uncooperation, in which everyone studies alone and doesn't help each other out for fear of getting a low grade (which = less-than-awesome residency).

I got this from a medical student in Washington. If someone could veryify this or tell me where I could veryify grading scales and how grading is done, let me know.

Rejected here as well...w/e I saw it coming

That seems like a perfect example of a defense mechanism called rationalization. If Northwestern fostered a spirit of uncooperation, why would it be known as one of the best med schools? Note that Feinberg also has a PBL curriculum, which inherently fosters cooperation. A med student from a different school is an unreliable source. Pay attention to who you get your information from.
