^^^ Post #654 makes sense. If I were in the Adcom, my thinking will go like: 'this applicant is strong enough to be invited for HPME interview, but after the interview s/he was not accepted into the program. Chances are good that this student will be admitted into other, higher ranked schools than NU. Being rejected at the HPME would have hurt the feelings and pride and s/he will likely stay away from us even though we are a great school! So, why bother giving him/her the admission when the chances are very good for him/her to enroll elsewhere? So, lets just waitlist him/her! This way, if s/he still shows a serious interest in NU w/o HPME, then we take him off the waitlist and admit him. Else, s/he does not hurt our yield. ’ And this is the way I will think as an Adcom member. But I am not an Adcom, so…

I was really just concerned about whether or not this means that we are rejected from HPME. But from the looks of it, seems like we are

And your thought processes make sense. So that just might be it

Accepted!!! I am freaking out right now.

congrats, you totally deserve it!

Has anyone received any rejection notices yet?

@8yearman, congrats. Did you get the finaid package with your NU acceptance? How is it?

Congrats, 8yearman!

My son got accepted today too! We are very happy.

Congrats 8yearman!

Got my acceptance to hpme!

^congrats!

congratulations to everyone accepted! and to those who weren’t, you’re all absolutely brilliant people who all have incredibly bright futures ahead. I promise :)

Congrats to everyone who was accepted!
I would also like to add to the list of people who were waitlisted to the undergrad school but interviewed for HPME.
I think that it is very very strange that so many of us didn’t get accepted to the undergrad school and wonder why they don’t check with the undergrad before requesting interviews.

Ok… first of all, CONGRATS on getting into the HPME!! How did you find out you were accepted to the HPME? Email, letter, online?

Consider my Daughter as #8

She interviewed for HPME but was wait-listed for admission to Northwestern. Good enough to be 1 out of less than 150 chosen out of over 800 applicants for interview but yet, not accepted to the university. I find that UNBELIEVABLE!

And to find out that so many others had that happen, is SHOCKING!

Again, congrats to all who got in!

@Justamom42 and kdawg1993, it is very strange. There have been about 10 people on this forum who are in the same situation, myself included. Though it just may be a coincidence and we may all have just been straight up waitlisted by the undergrad, post #661 by toughyear offers speculation on the weirdness of what has occurred.

Best of luck to your daughter, Justamom42, and kdawg1993 with the rest of your college applications.

Thank you for your support. It is very frustrating!

Congratulations to all accepted. For those who were waitlisted from NU–It is very strange to be waitlisted after you flew down there for the interview. Perhaps, they did not think NU would still be your first choice, if you were not accepted to HPME, as you are all very accomplished students. You will have many choices on March 30th. Waitlisted is not rejected and if you write to NU that it is your first choice, if it still is, I am sure with statistics like yours you will most likely be accepted. Either way I am sure you will go somewhere great and be very successful. Best of luck on Wednesday.

Congratulations to everyone accepted into HPME program!

Vbv8dad, did your child get in?

@8yearman - Thanks for asking. My S is a couple of years away from this D-day. I hope you made it to lot of top tier programs, including Brown PLME.

good job for getting in a top quality program. if you know where you want to matriculate at, then no need to get in anywhere else. my son is extremely content with his choice and he is very grateful. remember, you can not enroll at more than one school!
