I agree with that. However, my school has a dual Hebrew-English curricullum. I start school at 8 and end at 4:40. If my school started an hour later, I would get home extremely late, and extracurriculars wouldn't end until 6 or 7.

Hmmm...that's a very long school day, even without your extracurriculars.

I know. It's kind of crazy. That's why I'm constantly tired.

i have sleep issues during the summer, but during the school year i just take what i can get, which unfortunately for me is very little... as in 5 hours of sleep for monday and tuesday night put together (i got home from chorale practice and meeting at 10 pm monday, and had to be at school for chorale practice at 7 am on wednesday). i unfortunately have practice every wednesday so i cant take advantage of my school's 8:45 wednesday school start

"It is literally impossible for me to get more than 7 hours; I sleep at 10:30 and wake up at 6:30. The school day is 7:30 to 2:30, and I have tennis till 5. "

Not to burst your bubble... but 10:30 to 6:30 is 8 hours.

i apologize if i did not make it clearer, i believei posted it later on the first page. I referred to sleeping at 10:30 as i get to bed, but i usually don't fall asleep until an hour to an hour and a half later, at 12.

Stop being so high-achieving then.

I never get enough sleep. For me, it's about 12-6. My school day is from 7:30-2:05, but then there is ec's everyday until about 3:30 or 4:00, then on Mondays mock trial at 7pm until 9pm :( I am tired most of the day, but I manage...

Try gettin >8 hours.. ull be like 'hmm ill thin k ill wake up now'. its a lot more enjoyable than draggin urself out half-dead

Oh I love that feeling of getting into my nice cool bed at 3am, after hours and hours of heated studying..

The four hours sleep = pass and five hours sleep = fail does not hold in America. although it may hold true in other places with overachieving students needing to pass an entrance exam. We don't have such a system here.

Also, try complaining about the hours of sleep you get when your boss at your synagogue expects you to wake up at 8:30. Yeah, pleasant.

^8:30???
ur lucky....
anyway....i just realized that my family is kind of weird...i think we are all overachievers...me and my dad were uip at 3:30(after goign to bed at like 11) my dad went to work and i sat down to study for a couple hours before school...

I got to bed at 1:00 am usually, but if I would just finish all my AP work over the weekend, then that wouldn't happen.

Lets see, my schedule is crazy and im an insomniac to a whole 'nother level...

1.) wake up @ 4:30-4:40am to get rdy for school (i take the bus)
2.) school starts at 7:30 ends 2:45pm
3.) I take the bus so i get home @ 4:00-4:20pm
4.) I get home, wait for dinner and then when Im done eating its usually like, 5:30-6:00
5.) then i take a nap till 7:00 cause im majorly exhausted!
6.) then I have homework in each class...4 classes a day, the hw hours vary, but lets estimate around 1-2+ hrs for each class hw assignment - so 4-8+ hrs (ok so if i did all my hw i wouldnt get any sleep at all..i do some hw assignments at school/during class) but i usually stop doing hw at like 12-1am
7.) then i finally go to sleep 9_9 till the cycle starts all over again...

note: even if i finished hw b4 12 i am an insomniac so regardless i go to sleep around 12-1am ^.^;;

flip, you are in IB program? What classes for goodness of everything holy are you taking?

i often find myself in a cycle similar to IB.flip's.

i can't go to bed before 12 w/o some sort of sleep aid. i just keep thinking about all of the other things i could be doing, like filling out scholarships applications, reading a book, or getting ahead in a certain class.

it's unhealthy, i know.

so, i sleep about 3 or 4 hours a night with a ~2 hour nap after school and ~20 minute siestas whenever i can pull them off in class.

go to school for 7 hours.
-run around the street all day attending tutorials.
-get home at 11:30 PM sleep and go to school.

No time to study and even less time to sleep.

haha seriously @ the poster above.

AP homework + STUDYING for the tests (we have quizzes / tests every single day) & outlining/reading, plus getting home late from practice = 3-5 hours of sleep a night. i usually get done and wash up at around 1AM, but i have to wake up at 6:30 for school so i basically get no sleep. so weekends = sleep time! haha.

it really sucks though, a couple weeks ago it got to the point where i had to resort to energy drinks to keep myself awake, and sometimes the pressure gets to the point where i feel like i wanna breakdown.

sleep is a luxury, haha :(

ahahaha I like how mr_chipset phrased his question...to answer:

well yes I am in the IB program - my classes right now are:
1.)Psychology SL (testing out this yr)
2.)European History
3.)AP Statistics
4.)Spanish IV (testing out this yr)
5.)Theory of Knowledge
6.)English III
7.)Chemistry II (and i plan to take this HL ^.^;; ppl say im crazy!)

(note: all these classes are IB based)

9 hour school day - then 2-3 hours of e.c.'s - 4 hours of homework - then 3 hours of studying.

I sleep in installments to ease the studying.
