Not Enough Sleep

I'm in IB Diploma (English A1, French A1, Chemistry HL; Mathematics, Biology, History SL; Theory of Knowledge, Journalism) and I rarely go to sleep before midnight, usually much later, and wake up at 6. When I've stayed up writing a paper until 4 a.m. I have a hard time reaching even a bare minimum level of functioning... :(

lol at least you dont have to wake up at 4:30am x.x I wish to the almighty gods that I could wake up at 6.

so ur taking chem HL too? well no one at my school in the IB program has ever passed the Chem HL IB test. That's why they say I'm crazy to take it. Even my chem teacher says not to take it HL. Only me and like two other ppl are going to take it HL next year. As for this year only 5 ppl are takin chem HL.

as for staying up...a couple of times I have had to go through a whole night w/o sleep, literally. Just stay up the whole night doing god knows what assignment I had. Just a few days ago I had only 1hr of sleep, which I call a nap or break from this big eng project i had to do. ^.^;;

stuck-on-1700

What are the tutorials? I am curious and not trolling:)

we seriously need shorter school days.
i feel like my brain is fermenting in class. teachers do not know how to teach AP classes. i have 5 and i feel like im wasting 5 hours at school doing absolutely nothing everyday.

and the teachers insist on 100% attention so I can't be doing anything more productive. goodness gracious.

My AP US History teacher will throw away any assignment you are working on for another class, in his class, even if you aren't doing anything in his class that day.

And if he catches you looking somewhere else other than at his face, then he'll start picking on you (meaning asking you really hard questions, and you sound like an idiot). Or, he will plain just yell at you. He already interrogated me for leaving my seat to return a hole puncher to his desk without asking him first.

....such a fun class.

teachers at my school don't even care if you pay attention or do other work in their class. i mean, not all of us stay on the reading schedules or whatever, but we get the work done for when we need it done, and it's done well. we, for the most part, do well on the tests. we all live by "the ends justify the means."

my apush teacher always caught me doing ap chem prelabs in his class last year, and he just told me he didn't care as long as i got a 5. and i did.

shrugs

Hey- if you want sleep how bout you spend 3-4 actual hours on hw rather than 7 hours overhighlighting the textbook, making sure all the unchecked math problems are correct, making schedules that waste hours, and gossiping about the dumb kids on AIM. It's funny people with varsity sports can get their 8 hours and the A's and while it's no easy task it's probably a helluva lot easier than working on four hours of sleep a day. Yes the 3-4 hour nights will come, but those should be rarities, not your g*ddam planned schedule.

4 hours of sleep / day human = 8 hours of sleep / day LSD-user.

What!

My apush teacher is pretty anal. She gets annoyed if you do anything not related to class...and she scans/patrols the room to make sure nobody does.

And for our class, at least, you pretty much have to stay on reading schedule. Or else you fail. Or else you pull all nighters.

our...

hmmm.

yeah, our teachers probably don't care as much as yours. they don't give daily quizzes because they know we'll get the work done sooner or later. they say it's because they want to show us that professors won't care if we do the reading or not, but my euro teacher flat out told us that he didn't want to have to make up and grade daily quizzes, so we better get As on our tests.

but, if our test averages do slip, we get quizzed until they improve.

i dunno, man.

We get quizzed weekly in APUSH - Each quiz is on 1 chapter's worth of material. Which I guess makes sense if you think about it. Tests are huge, though. We haven't had one yet and we've done 5 chapters so far, so... (first quiz was on 4 chapters) the test is going to be insane.

Hmm. Is it possible to slac off during an entire full-course AP year, and still manage all 5's by just prepping with prep books? :?

I dunno about doing that with just prep book, you might want to read the textbook. Though for APUSH, the prep books would probably help you pass the test.

Join my club man. I don't follow the 10 point spread scale. Mine is more like a 5 point spread scale.

I sleep 6hrs a day when I'm lucky and I feel like crap. School is ranked top 3 in the state I believe so I'm being owned by work. I had a F and a D in this progress report. A D is below and 81 so I had a 80. Not a bad score but the scale owns me.
