Hi everyone. Quick question. I got admitted to UCSD as a poly sci major from ucr. but I am unsure if I can take a stats course I listed as planned for summer. Will this affect my admissions at all?

Call them up and tell them you’re not taking it. And if you still want to, try doing it at a community college and update it on your UC application and then tell them that you’re doing that instead.

I’m in the same boat. I’m not gonna be able to take the last semester of physics before I transfer because I will be doing research over the summer for UCD.

Is it severe if a planned course is not taken before transfer? I don’t want to be admitted, then denied because of this one class (I don’t have a TAG so I don’t even know if I’m admitted yet).

You’re not alone. From what I heard, the San Diego Community College District has cancelled all Math, Science, and some Biology courses for the summer session.

is it possible to have your admissions rescinded for not taking a planned summer course?

@fierce

SDCCD canceled ALL summer classes. Even online classes.

Yeah, they broke the news last week. A teacher of mine was saying that they might still have vocational classes and lower level remedial classes, but otherwise, summer school has been axed at SDCCD.

This puts me in the same position as the OP and others, as I stated that I will be taking a physics course over the summer before I transfer. However I remember on the application, it said something along the lines of “Classes taken the summer before transferring do not count towards your admission decision.” So if taking a planned summer-course before transferring doesn’t factor into admission, I would assume that NOT taking a planned summer-course before transferring doesn’t get factored as well. It would be unfair for that situation to only be a one way street.

Can anyone call UC admissions and get the final word on this? I’d call myself, but I’m posting from work :/

omg r u srs? I planned to take a math class during summer that is part of my major requirements. Do you know if GCCCD or any other nearby CC will offer summer classes?

i got this email as well… damn…
i hope grossmont college offers diff eq class during summer

I have the same problem… I didn’t do so well in my diff. eq. class back in spring 10 and I was gonna retake it during the summer and even have that planned on my application but none of my surrounding schools offer it How bad does this look?
