Not very happy with my college (Texas State University)

I am currently a freshman attending my first semester of college at Texas State University in San Marcos. Since September, I have not been enjoying being a student here.
Texas State has a reputation for being a party school. I don't party at all so I don't have many friends (and I don't even have time to invest on clubs), but pretty much partying is what everyone else cares about. People are still very immature; I feel like I'm in high school again. I have gotten picked on.
I want to say that I am very disappointed with Texas State so far--it is not the school where I can learn from others and where I can experience growth. The only reason I wanted to go to Texas State is because it offers microbiology and marine/aquatic biology. I really want to transfer to Texas A&M (or Texas A&M at Galveston) for my sophomore year, but just to keep myself away from everyone else at Texas State, I also really want to transfer to a community college for the upcoming spring semester. I am very aware that it is not a good idea at all, but I really do not want to stay at Texas State any longer. And for your information, I have a high school GPA of 3.35 (not very high, I know), but right now I am focusing very hard on getting a favorable GPA this semester. Do you think I might even have some chance of getting accepted to Texas A&M if I can transfer there from a community college for the spring semester? Can I still try to "convince" them somehow with my application essay(s)?

I’m not an expert here so you might want to call A&M directly to speak with a counselor. But the website at [College of Agriculture and Life Sciences](http://admissions.tamu.edu/transfer/WhyAggieland/UniquePrograms/Colleges/ag.aspx) says that in order to apply to transfer you must have " 24 hours of graded transferable coursework". Since the deadline for applying for Fall 2013 is March 15th of 2013, you are unlikely to have the units by that time. And so your essay won’t matter; if by rule you don’t qualify to apply, the most moving essay in the world is irrelevant.

I suggest you set up a meeting at one of the centers they have for meeting with prospective students to find the best way to proceed: see [Prospective Student Centers](http://admissions.tamu.edu/psc/default.aspx)

Why the hell did you go to Texas State if you don’t party?
Are you just not from Texas…? So you didn’t know?

I’ve always been aware that Texas State is a party school, and to be honest, I actually did wanted to try getting myself into partying but it didn’t work out I guess.

I would try checking out Baylor but it has never been my school choice considering that it is a private school and the tuition is so expensive.

Check out UTD possibly or A&M. Both will be less of “party schools” than TSU.
