nothing oustanding :(

Im gettig a little worried because I check my Penn portal but it say I have nothing outstanding but i see other threads saying their materials are outstanding. does this mean they dont like my application and my grades and recommendations etc? why does penn think others have oustanding transcripts or secondary school reports but dont like anything of mine? i mean i have a good sat and decent recomendations. should i call the admissions?

is this a joke?

no please why are you so rude? please just answer my question because i dont know what it is supposed to mean and im so afraid im going to become rejected :(

okay lol piggybank, i didnt mean to come across as rude. When reading the word ‘outstanding’ you are taking the definition of the word, too literally. In this case, when Penn says ‘nothing is outstanding’, they mean that there is nothing else you have to submit. Outstanding has two definitions:

1) distinguished from others in excellence; “did outstanding work in human relations”; “an outstanding war record”

2) owed as a debt; “outstanding bills”; “the amount still owed”; “undischarged debts”

Therefore, you fall into category 2. You ‘owe’ nothing to UPenn, i.e you dont ‘owe’ sending them your SAT Scores, recommendations, supplemental information etc.

Therefore, this is good  Just sit and wait for the decision. Just curious, how did you do on your SATs? I have nothing outstanding either haha. Dont worry.

haha yea, pennhopefull is correct.

For example, I would say that my teacher recommendations are “outstanding” on my PennPortal because it has a N (for “No”) next to it.

Chill. You are fine. ^.^

terrible diction by penn

Was this really a legitimate question? ha… I still can’t figure out if piggybank was kidding or not lol

thanks quaker and penn!!! a big relief!

lol at this thread

I lol’d (SO HARD)

dawg you made my day.

haha I really do think this was a joke… I mean c’mon! lol

***. if this was a joke…dont tell me i just typed 819 characters (with spaces) only to find out it was a lame joke. i have a life you know! :P

lol wg90210, this is not terrible diction by Penn. “outstanding” is the correct word choice and is very commonplace… I can’t believe this was a thread lol

hahahah…

um…

no words

well, assuming that piggybank was not the only one to misinterpret the term, maybe it was not best word choice?

I find it hard to believe (very hard to believe) that piggybank, who has a combined 2310 SAT, got 5’s on all his APs, 800 on Math II & Chem, with a 770 in Bio and who aspires to go to Brown’s highly selective PLME program, really wondered what ‘outstanding’ meant. Thanks for getting a chuckle out of me. I am still mad I typed 819 characters (with spaces) though. FmahL.

My proof: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/765599-holy-look-what-i-found.html

Call me a stalker, but I like to verify things. :)

dayum you guys caught me. please dont kill me

lmao its actually really clever.

Now imagine if some idiot actually thinks penn is complimenting him

SAT score- outstanding
Recs- outstanding
Essay- outstanding

great i’ll get in for sure.

On a second thought, piggybank you should totally call the admission office. They need a chuckle too=]

lmaoo nirvanatear, I am seriously considering doing that…only if I didn’t worry that penn tracked phone numbers…haha. Piggybank, that was pretty funny…only if i didnt think you were serious.
