Dear Adm01…by “mailed”, are you referring to US Mail? Son applied by Nov 3 for Honors. His status still shows a 2/1 notification date. I know he’s HOPING to hear something sooner than that because we have some money hunting to do!

@debrockman - yes, the Honors Program put letters in U.S. mail the morning of Dec 22

Received letter today! Waiting for son to open it, but it says Congratulations on the outside of the envelope.

@mother bear
did your son apply for the honors program? and is that the notification for the honors program?

No, he didn’t apply to honors. He was automatically accepted to the OSU honors program with no extra application and was a little annoyed that he was required to do one for Miami.

The letter states: “Thank you for applying to Miami University. The Admission Committee was able to review your file before going on winter break and we truly enjoyed reading your application. We were impressed by your exceptional record of academic and extracurricular accomplishments. Though we have not yet reached our published admission notification date of February 1, given your outstanding credentials, we are excited to take this unprecedented step and offer you admission to Miami University. Congratulations!”

Obviously, no mention of scholarship since he didn’t apply to honors.

Wow, Mother Bear!! Congrats!! Early notification without even ASKING for it!! What is your son’s first choice? My son has been admitted to IU as a Direct Admit to Kelley, but he Soooo wants to go to Miami. Neither one of us can stand it. We both may die if he has to wait for February. OK, we won’t die, but it will be tough Don’t think he really had a chance at Harrison, but you can’t lose for trying, right? He only has a 3.8 GPA, but he has taken a very tough load at a very tough school…2 year advanced math, B/C Calc as a Junior, 800 Math SAT…not as strong in language arts, but not bad. Lots of AP, Academy of Finance with College business classes…good E/Cs…sports, missions, etc. SOOOO hoping it’s enough for an early notification. It would be so amazing to put a letter under the tree for him. :)

debrockman–no worries for your son. I also got the letter today-a very nice surprise-and my stats are lower than your sons. 3.7 gpa and 27 act. In state.

Ajdata…unfortunately, for my son, he is oos CONGRATULATIONS!!

Very dissappointing Christmas. Several of my son’s friends got their letters, but he did not. He had the highest grades, highest test scores and hardest curriculum of any of them. Not sure what to think at the moment.

I wish I had bought some IU clothes :(

For those who received the letters of acceptance, did the online status change as well?

Have your son check his e-mail. My daughter is OOS, didn’t apply for honors and just received her acceptance to the Farmer School of Business. In October, she was admitted to the Kelley School and the Hutton Honors college at IU Bloomington with a lot of money and a nomination for a full ride. Maybe MU is rethinking the late notification. The kids are so tortured. My D didn’t learn about any money from MU in her e-mail, so IU is still on the table. Good luck to your son!!!

His application status is still just showing “complete”.
Stairclimber…hope our kid’s cross paths! Good luck to your daughter!

Online status will not change until Feb 1.

I know they say it will not change until February 1. But if they are already telling some students they have been accepted, what really is the point of leaving their online status unchanged until February?

DD just received her letter in today’s mail. It does say on the bottom that the official notice won’t come until February 1, which seems silly, but whatever.

i got my “unofficial acceptance” today! i’m out of state, too.

received unofficial acceptance and direct admit into farmer school in an e-mail today!

debrockman:

I am in the same situation as your son. I applied by Nov. 3 to the Honors program and MU, but didn’t get a letter today. Other people in my town did. At this point, I’m thinking it’s just in the mail. I’m just going to be patient and see if it arrives in the few days after Christmas. Good luck to your son, I hope you are notified soon! Happy holidays!

I am also accepted with direct admission into the Farmer School of Business! Definitely my number one as of right now!
