brian…the admin said that the non-honors applicants had their letters sent on the 20th and 21st but that the honors applicants letter were sent out by the honors dept. and did not go out til the 22nd. GOOD LUCK!! We’ll stay patient together! Let us know when you hear!!

I applied EA and also for the Honors Program before the Harrison Scholarship deadline. Received a large envelope today advising me that I have been accepted into both MU and the Honors Program (engineering) but unfortunately did not receive the Harrison Scholarship. I’m very excited about the (mostly) good news.
Good luck to those still waiting!

Good day! I just got the mail and saw the envelope from Miami. I have been accepted in to Miami University and the Honors program, but I didn’t get the Harrison scholarship either. I’m still happy. I think I might have had the credentials, but I don’t think I spent enough time on my essays.
debrockman: did your son receive his letter today?

brian…He DID!! Honors and Miami acceptances…no Harrison…but unlike you, Brian, he spent enough time on his essays, just not enough time on his AP Chem class last year!! Congrats, guys!! We’re thrilled. He does qualify for the automatic scholarship for his grades and test scores…that along helps A LOT!!

Congrats to all, still waiting in Maryland with crossed fingers.

Good Luck, Don!!

My OOS son got his letter today! Very excited.

Son received today his OOS (Maryland) acceptance and honors. No Harrison, but it wasn’t expected. Stats are: ACT-34, SAT 1370, UW-3.6 Lots of AP and Honors but like someone else mentioned above, he did not always put the time in that was necessary! We’ll wait and see what merit aid is offered.

The crossed fingers worked! Son received his honors acceptance in today’s mail.

Nice!! Congrats!!

Received my acceptance today finally with the delay cause of the snow storm. Pretty excited.

Question do we find out on Feb 1 if we got into certain schools or was it supposed to say it today?

Son received “letter of intent” today in NJ! Miami was my DREAM school back in the day (never got in!) and since his was tossing out the big net and looking at schools in Indiana and OU…I added the app to the pile! Don’t think he’s considering it…but it’s one fantastic school!!! Congrats to all!

My D also was accepted yesterday. Nice letter.

Received a letter in the mail for the Harrison’s Scholarship (I thought the decisions were coming out in Feb? haha works for me though) Just wondering…was anyone rewarded with the harrison? stats? I read on their website that some 1200+ appl only for 50 to actually get it. SATs are pretty high and some with insane scores got denied…I realize that the Harrison Scholarship is 52000 over the 4 yrs, but is it not the same as most of the merit scholarships that other competitive students will be awarded that do not receive the Harrison? I am veerrry interested in this program, but the other fees will still be 15-6k a year, which is quite substantial. Is it possible to get more merit scholarships since most of my 'mates will receive other merit aid when they have not been accepted for the Harrisons?

sorry if I am posting on the wrong thread, I just made my account and am figuring it out as I go hahaa

got my letter Christmas Eve. Pretty excited that I got in

I received a Harrison, I have a 3.6 weighted GPA at a good school, 33 ACT, 2190 SAT, I do a fair amount of extracurriculars but most are just memberships save 3 or 4. I’ve taken 4 APs of the 6 offered at my school, plus honors where available. I live in OH, so the Harrison covers all of my tuition plus a little more. I hope this helps, brownpwr.

also, out of curiosity, if you are interested in Brown, I was wondering what you believe your chances there are, I’m applying to a few schools ranked about there and would like to get a better feel for my chances!

Son’s stats much like mhausknecht, but slightly higher GPA…no Harrison, but OOS. We are getting impression most Harrison winners are in state. Did receive scholarship award that is equal to Harrison award, though. Very happy with that. Truthfully, mhaus, unless you are an URM, I would not expect those stats to earn Brown admission. You might want to follow those boards. Frankly, I would not expect a 3.6 weighted GPA to get you into UVA, William and Mary, Rice, Northwestern, Brown level schools…even WITH great ECs. I think my son’s were pretty strong…but not strong enough to outweigh his 3.74 GPA. But the Honors program at Miami is great preparation for grad school. My son wanted to go to Wharton and had the potential, but didn’t understand the competition. Now he does. If he wants to go to grad school there, he now knows what it takes. He’s been accepted at Kelley as a direct admit and Miami Honors…all in all, not a bad spot to launch from.

Harrison here. 3.8 GPA at a good private Ohio school, with a 1490 SAT CR+M. Decent extra-curriculars, but nothing special. All honors, with 2 APs last year and 5 this year. I wasn’t expecting to receive the Harrison scholarship, so it was a great surprise over winter break.

You already received the Harrison scholarship?

Congrats brotherin!! What will you be studying?
