Congrats all! Seems lots of people accepted thus far!!

Just wondering, I was one of six called back for the BFA Acting. I auditioned for MT. So regardless of the outcome of my audition, will my status online change? Because I’m assuming I will still get a rejection letter for MT, but say I’m accepted to Acting, would the status change even though there are two outcomes of the audition? And you’re getting mailed two different things?

I don’t know if this answers your question completely (or at all), but in ONE envelope, I got an MT rejection and a Acting deferral. My status didn’t change, but it wasn’t an acceptance so… IDK! But they came in the same envelope?

Yeah, my D also had a status change to Theater scholarship letter. Is this letter for musical theater. Did the letters in the mail for acceptance for MT match the status change stating Theater Scholarship?

hi shark, megan, and stalker, my daughter auditioned at PPU on 2/13 and her status changed to ‘theatre scholarship’ as well. Point Park is one of her top choices and she has stayed with an MT friend at Point Park on 2 occasions and she also got to audit a Jazz class the day before auditions. Her friend loves the MT program.

to keepingcalm did your daughters letters indicate the size of the scholarship?

ponysinger- D got three separate letters from PP. Her academic acceptance, her conservatory acceptance indicating that would receive a scholarship, then financial aide letter. The last one had the “total” her academic and talent money on it, but then said they would wait for the FAFSA as they might increase. All three letters came in about a 6 day period. D was disappointed in the academic scholarship which means thatPPU is probably out of our range.
Congratulations all.

keepingcalm…my D was also disappointed in her academic scholarship as she is in the top 5% of her class and a high honors student. It is my understanding that conservatory students can only be awarded a maximum of 5k for academic scholarship. That combined with the not so generous talent scholarship she was awarded has also made PP less affordable then the school has made itself out to be. As a side note, my D was at the very first audition in October and was academically accepted in August. We are now exploring our financial aid options with the school, including an appeal, as PP is one of D’s top choices.

stagemom, helps to know that others were the saem. It sounds like our kids got the same academic scholarship, which seems considerably less than what they had posted on the website, even for conservatory students, but maybe I should go back and check. PP was D’s firts choice, but actually DH and mine last so I am not sure we will appeal anything. Shenandoah offered lots more money and has made her feel very wanted, which is tilting her away from PP.
It will be interesting to see where they all end up.

keepingcalm…right now you only have her merit and talent scholarships and so if you qualify for need based aid, it could turn out that that increases the total amount of “grant” money. So, it remains to be seen at this point. This is assuming your family would qualify for need based aid.

EDIT…I missed where you wrote that you already got a FIN AID letter but then it is kinda odd that they sent that without yet having your FAFSA? Therefore, it may get revised once they review FAFSA. I would check in with them by the end of the month once they have reviewed the FAFSA.

Thanks Soozie. I am not sure what will happen with our FAFSA information at many schools. We do know what our “number” is - assuming we understand the report. But I don’t know what schools do with the EFC number. Even with the academic and talent scholarships out EFC is less than PP.
Maybe I am just missing up which letter came from which place and at different stages. Somewhere around Jan the whole process got very disorganized and now all letters are just in a giant pile on the dining room table. I keep looking at it and thinking that we need to get it in order.
