Anyone today get a call?

Here’s an article posted today on ND website today. It talkes about the Class of 2016.
Apparently they only enrolled 1995 students. What the hell!! Every class the past 5 (maybe more) has been several students over 2000.

[myNotreDame - Meet the Class of 2016](http://ndtoday.alumni.nd.edu/s/1210/nl-subpage.aspx?sid=1210&gid=1&pgid=9168)

That’s strange Fish…
Wouldn’t that mean a greater need to go to the wait list? Or are they trying to reduce their final class size?

My understanding was that last year, they had a higher yield than expected at admissions time and also lost less students at the end of the year to transfers. That would mean less space on campus for freshman who must live in the dorms. I didn’t think they had even gone to the wait list last year, so if they’re taking some off WL this year they obviously left themselves a little room.

Here’s an excerpt from an email I received from my counselor today. I think they’re pretty much done with the waitlist. Such a bummer.

Thanks for your email. As you may have heard, we have accepted a small number of students (less than 50) from our waitlist. We are still in the process of determining if we will ultimately have further spots available in the class, so we are unable to say definitely at this time just how many students we will be able to accept. It is safe to say that we are very close to completing our freshman class for 2012-13.

I had heard about a week ago they were waiting on about 40 people to provide final notice. After that they would know if they would have anywhere between 10 and 50 or more coming off the list. It seems many of those 40 are accepting.

y the f cant they take me off the gd waitlist!!

Papaknows: thank you! i actually know one who is accepting but thanks for that, very helpful
but you’re positive more of us will get off the WL?

Not at all. If they have pulled 11 off already, who knows, maybe that is all they needed. It doesn’t seem like there will be a large number coming off in any case. Like everyone else, I am just trying to pull bits and pieces of info together.

If it helps at all I can tell you that when my daughter was offered admission off the wait list she was given until May 18th to make a decision. So if there is a round two for the wait list perhaps it will be after the 18th?

Someone else was accepted off the waitlist today.

@shurgging12 i’ll take your word, but where’d ya hear that?

The girlfriend of a guy from the class of 2016 found out earlier today that she got accepted and they made a facebook status about it.

Are they only looking at a specific region, gender or totally random at this point? I’m in NW and was told it waitlist was done/decided. Anyone else?

We also know someone accepted from the waitlist today (Tuesday 5/15) so they did make more calls. As far as regions go, this person is from the pacific northwest.

Our D got the call last night.

Congrats to the recent admits! Long wait. We were told to start looking forward to other schools. Not good. Still have glimmer of hope.

Is this regional or what? Has anyone heard from Oregon?

I think someone else will end up being accepted off the list because my son had asked for an extension while he decided between ND and Cornell. This last week, ND called for his final decision. That was either Monday or Tuesday. It was a tough decision, but he is going to Cornell. The ND rep mentioned that there were people on the waitlist, so they needed his decision. So, I would think that opened another spot. I wish you all the best!

oh my goodness, tell your son thank you from the remaining waitlist-ers! :)
