Notre Dame Wait List Thread Class of 2017

Ok that’s supposed to be gmail, by the way.

You could always go to Saint Mary’s, see how you like it there, and transfer from there, if you still feel the draw to ND… This is not to say that you wouldn’t enjoy HCC, but SMC has a long tradition of its own, that you just may love!

I will let you know that I am a SMC alum, who also was waitlisted at ND as a Senior, put in a transfer app from SMC, was accepted, and ultimately turned it down to stay at SMC. Never regretted it, and made life long friends-from both schools!

Just a thought! Best of luck WHATEVER you do-you are about to have an amazing time in your life-no doubt!

The Gateway Program is a new program, designed for Arts and Letters majors only, and a great way to transfer into Notre Dame. So if you didn’t get an invitation, it may be because you were interested in the sciences, engineering or business. If so, and you really want to go to Notre Dame, go to the school you accepted, and apply as a transfer if you want to later. Just be sure to take a rigorous course load that is compatible with university requirements. No matter where you go, remember that you will get out of your college experience what you put in, and you can have an amazing experience wherever you go!

I still haven’t gotten a letter in the mail. Is anyone else in the same boat?

Ndtxmom82, are you sure it’s for arts and letters students only? If so, that’s a bummer because I put chemical engineering on my application and my interest has changed to Spanish with a minor in biological engineering since then.

It is definitely only for an Arts and Letters degree. My counselor told me if I’m still interested in possibly pursuing Medicine or Business, I should go to SMC. For some reason I didn’t think they were necessarily excluding people from the program who did not put down an Arts and Letters major as their intended major. They have to know that peoples’ minds will change and that intended major does not always mean the person will choose to pursue that major when it comes down to it. I was offered a spot in Gateway but I think I put Psychology down as my intended major - which is Arts and Letters - so I can’t confirm. I have to make my decision about Gateway by June 1, so they might do a second round if they have some people turn it down.
