@waitingmomla Thank you. Most of my comments tend to be a bit tongue-in-cheek, but having said that, what I clearly remember from last season was REALLY looking forward to the ND-UMiami game, on a beautiful evening in Miami, and then having to watch and endure a 41-8 shellacking by UMiami. I hold ND to a higher standard and ND should have been playing in the Fiesta Bowl against Penn St.
And don’t get me started on that, that, that Georgia game and ND’s final 3 possessions of: 3 plays punt, 3 plays punt and 3 play and fumble, IIRC. X_X
I guess it’s about perspective. Yes, they had a good season, but I want(ed) a great season. And I don’t think Wimbush will get ND there. I hope so though. I wish they could find someone like a Lamar Jackson or even better a DeShaun Watson type.
And I’ll be honest, I’m not a big Brian Kelly fan either. But that’s a whole 'nother story.
@sushiritto Agree about Miami. I still have PTSD. I take tiny solace in the fact that ND finished ahead of them in final rankings, but it’s not much.
Re Georgia - my husband and daughter were both at that game. Personally I lay partial blame at the feet of ND alums that sold out. That stadium was a sea of red. Very disappointing and cant imagine that didn’t have an effect on the ND team. But I realize I say that from the perspective of a mom/football novice, so all emotional and nothing technical.
Sorry to hear about the closing of the waiting list! Twenty is indeed to low number and the decision date for them will only be next week on May 15th. Closing the list even before that date obviously suggests that ND managed to complete their 2022 class exclusively with REA & RD admissions and another expected step up of the final yield rate. It speaks for the attractiveness of the Notre Dame undergraduate package, yet is of course very disappointing for the students waiting for their remaining small chance to join the ND experience
The QB was only an example of what institutional needs are. I never thought you would all go crazy about it. Anyways, the waitlist is closed now, tough luck and time to move on. Good luck to everybody!
I’m also sorry to hear that the waitlist has been closed, but I’m pretty confident that waitlisters have other very good options. Best wishes on your college career.
@mexboy Folks were not taking the suggestion seriously at all, just made some good old fun on the thought that a ND QB would end up on an admission waiting list Best of luck and all success for your future academic endeavors! Where will you be heading for college?
2000 was a millennial year, record number of applicants across the country this year. We are from CA and my son applied to schools all over the country, was rejected by IVY’s and Notre Dame, but got accepted into a 5 year accelerated Pre_Pharmacy program, things happen for a reason and god showed him his way was relatively close to home with a chance to finish his Pharm degree 3 years sooner than going traditional undergrad/grad route.
The alumni networks are great, but at the end of the day success is not defined by what school you go to but rather what you do with your education wherever the degree came from.
Decision due date for admitted students from the Fall 2018 waiting list will be tomorrow, Tuesday, May 15th - presumably you should already have or will receive today any outstanding need based FA information, if FAFSA and CSS Profile have been submitted. Best of luck!
@hafamama, you seem to know a lot about ND. This is off topic for this thread but do you know anything about the Notre Dame Leadership Seminar and whether those who are selected to attend have a greater chance at undergrad admission?
@RFM1617 Congratulations on your recent acceptance to the NDLS! Although I’m responding to your question here, I think your best chance at getting info is to start a new thread. I don’t have any personal knowledge of NDLS. (I’ve just read a lot of CC and the ND website.) You are already on the NDLS 2018 thread, so I presume you’ve read through those posts?
I don’t think anything is a “lock” when it comes to actual acceptance to ND, esp. with the lowest ever admission rate for Class of 2022: Notre Dame (RD+REA) 3586 out of 20370 (17.6%). But from a practical perspective, it would seem that acceptance to NDLS is, at the very least, an indication of interest in you, since the program accepts only 100 students and pays for all expenses. Congrats again and have a great senior year!
@RFM1617, conventional wisdom is that NDLS attendees have a very, very good shot at admission. However, I do know of at least one student who attended but who was not admitted so it’s not a sure thing. I hope you enjoy NDLS. My older daughter attended and loved it.
