Wow, that’s terrible… Sucks to have been a senior this year :(

I am so confused about what factors will affect whether they turn to the waitlist or not. Like are they filled? Still waiting but expecting to be filled? What will force them to take kids off the waitlist?

@coll3ges i think in the next few years it’s going to become even harder to get into college; acceptance rates are getting lower and it’s just becoming more competitive to get in.

@ndwanabe i think the main factors that affect whether or not their going to the waitlist is how large the response is from accepted applicants to confirm that they’re attending Notre Dame. Apparently it’s pretty high this year meaning since more accepted students want to go to Notre Dame, fewer students will be getting calls to get of the waitlist. but don’t give up!!!

Don’t give up yet…I heard from my counselor yesterday that a small number would come from the waitlist. That is better than ZERO right?

On another note - I wonder if the ND Admissions Folks view this site?

I will ask my college counselor today and see if what she has heard from our ND regional rep corresponds to the e-mail that the other student’s counselor received…so nervous…

I e-mailed my regional counselor last night asking about the status of the waitlist and this was part of her response:

“At this point, we are looking very strong in terms of confirms and it is likely we will not go to the waitlist. We should have a clearer picture in the next week, however, regarding where we stand. Typically, we enroll at least 50-100 students from our wait list. This has been an unusual year and despite the fact that we were more selective than any other year in history, it is also true more students have opted to turn down other top choice schools and come to Notre Dame.”

:(

@grnmen: OMG! I really hope you are right. Trying not to let that get my hopes up but sadly thats the best news I have heard on this subject in days haha!

yeah grnmen’s message right now is the most optimistic. I guess they’ll be taking around 0-50 ish from the sounds of it?
