Notre Dame Waitlisted!

Did anyone get off the waitlist?

What did you do?

Thank you!

It is early for them to be going to the waitlist. Admitted students have until May 1st to reply if they are going to attend. Usually they start waitlist admissions about the 3rd or 4th week of May. There is another thread about what you can do to improve your chances for admission.

^sassymon…

Last year waitlist students were notified of admissions by last week in April.

That is not true. Read last year’s waitlist thread. They started hearing in the second and third week of May. They would never tell anyone in the last week of April because they would not admit more people when they don’t have a definite number on how many will attend. That would be lunacy.

Toast is right.

First batch heard on May 7th, and then second (final) batch heard on May 22.

has anyone heard of any rough estimates of how many kids they will be taking from the wait list this year?

I’m pretty sure that, like they said, they will not know until about two weeks after May 1. I would be very pleased to hear otherwise (assuming it’s good news), but they need time for all the checks, documentation, etc. to get mailed in from all over the place before they can readily make that information available.

Do you know if they call, e-mail, or mail acceptances/rejections from the waitlist?

I know most colleges call…

Everything I’ve read from last year’s thread indicates that they call everyone on the same days or over two days and they overnight your financial aid package to you. Then they have you give them a final decision within a week or so. Since some people have already fallen in love with the school they’ve committed to, they often go to a second round of waitlist admissions to fill up the spots that didn’t come through using the same process a couple weeks later. In last year’s case, only two rounds were necessary, which I assume is normal, but I’m sure they would keep going as needed until they fill up.

thank you so much! that was very helpful.

but would they call you if you hadn’t made it off the waitlist?

The waitlist letter said a final decision will be mailed in late June. Assume nothing until you get the final letter or a call.

so even though the letter said that we may be notified in June, last year (and many other years I’m assuming) heard by the end of May? And will they call all waitlisted applicants or just those accepted? thanks!

Last year people heard all the way up to the beginning of June (June 6 I think was the last acceptance mentioned on the board), but at that point the group was very small. THe first group is obviously the largest, and every subsequent group gets smaller from there. They do not call all of us waitlisters, though. They call only the accepted ones and send letters to everyone else when they have closed the waitlist.

What happens is now they have their final number…if they need to go to the waitlist then they will re-evaluate the group during the next week or so and then start to fill the remaining spots. And they will continue to go through the updated count and then the re-evaluation process until they fill their class. It can take one round or it can take five rounds.

please post here if any of you were accepted! we’d like to know when they start accepting people off … thank you!

Good luck to all.

i just got a message that they are looking pretty solid in terms of confirms and should probably only take a handful if any

Awww… where did you hear that? :(

eryan92… where did you hear that? S has been waiting like so many others. Was told mid-May if they go to waitlist. How many came off the wait list last year??? I realize it changes every year.

that news is a little disheartening…
I don’t think anyone has gotten off the waitlist yet
