Nov. 20th National Scholar Day...

Hey, any of you out there planning on attending National Scholar Day at A&M on Nov. 20th?

I just want to say that I went to one of these in January (I’m a current freshman) and it’s what made me decide to come here. I did SHIP but all I took from that was random traditions (which I love, but I didn’t care about at all at the time), and so the national scholar day was the first time I really saw the campus from the perspective of a student/learner/scholar and when I realized that being a national merit scholar at A&M would mean, potentially, a lot of personal attention, as well as peace of mind because the school gets a lotttttttttttt cheaper haha.

Stbs, thanks for the info. My son went to SHIP also and loved it; however, it was all a little overwhelming and he needs to take a second look at A&M. We are hoping it will be productive. When did you hear from the Honors Program about your scholarships? Was it before the finalist list comes out in February? Thanks.

I’m not exactly sure when I heard back about the scholarships, but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t until I officially became a finalist and had named A&M as my top choice.

Actually on second thought, I believe I heard about the President’s Endowed Scholarship (the $12,000 one that is given regardless of national merit standing) sometime before all the others… I’m not sure when though. I’m thinking January/February for that one. (I’m trying to remember when I went to my national scholar day in January if I had been officially awarded any scholarships by that point… I don’t think so, but I think I got the PES one shortly thereafter.)

So I would expect notification about PES in Jan-Feb and then the rest of the national merit ones sometime after, maybe in March or April?
