November 2008 SAT Subject Test: Biology

1) what was the secondary bond for proteins..something like that. i think i put hydrogen bonds

misterme i know its not that, the placenta helps transport wasteful material

tjwogus i thought it was peptide bonds? but i dont think that was a choice i just put covalent

actually ya its hydrogen bonds

what was the dotted line.
coenzyme?

what causes acid rain, SO2- or NO- it angers me because all the websites im looking at say they both contribute... i think i put SO2-//the one with sulfur

Anybody have any idea what the incorrect graph for the growth of the plants with the no3, po4, and both nutrients together was. I put the pie graph

ps. I believe it was the SO2 because H2O+ SO2=H2SO3 (sulfurous acid? contributes to acid rain)

i put the pie graph too

dotted line was an inhibitor and the main cause of acid rain is so2

Was this dotted line thing on the molecular section? I don't remember it

Any ideas about the limiting nutrient? I still can't figure it out.

the most limiting nutrient out of the options was nitrogen, and the dotted line was on the M-section

How did you figure out the limiting nutrient thing(to satisfy my curiosity =)) What does it mean?

The pie graph? I put the first graph (A).

There goes my 800! ):

What made you put the first one? I'm asking because I wasn't positive about the pie graph.

How many do you think you have wrong so far?

...I can't remember why I chose (A).

I skipped one, got the AaBBCc one wrong, can't remember what i wrote for 2 of them...
must have made some other careless mistakes (let's put 3 in for good measure...)

so 2+, essentially. you?

I really wanted an 800 on this. How disappointing!

For the graph one I selected the line graph because it didn't make any sense. You can't use a line graph for categorical data.

The one with the bonds in tetiary structure of protien was confusing. There are double convalent bonds between sulphite groups (S=S), hydrogen bonds, and I think there are also ionic bonds aren't there?

For the graph I put A because it didn't have the control (water)

They were asking for the bonds in the secondary structure. Since we're dealing with beta-pleated/alpha helix conformations, the answer was hydrogen bonds.

Yes! Now I remember! That's part of the reason I chose A. Now let's pray we're both correct..

Phew, yeah that's what I put. Makes sense thanks.
